(AP)?Junior transfer Robert Marve is the No. 1 quarterback for Purdue headed into preseason practice.

Coach Danny Hope announced the move Tuesday. Marve transferred to Purdue from Miami May 2009 and sat out last season while Joey Elliott led the team.

Marve and sophomore Caleb TerBush shared the No. 1 quarterback spot throughout practice this past spring.

At Miami, Marve took over as the starting quarterback in the second game of the 2008 season. He made 11 consecutive starts and helped guide the Hurricanes to five straight wins from Oct. 11 to Nov. 13. He threw for 1,293 yards and nine touchdowns that season.

Marve named No. 1 quarterback

Don't tell me you're surprised.

Purdue coach Danny Hope announced today that Robert Marve, a transfer from Miami, Fla., will be the Boilermakers' No. 1 quarterback heading into training camp. We all knew this was coming.

Despite a knee injury suffered in May, 2009, Marve has demonstrated enough to allow Hope to make this announcement. Sophomore Caleb TerBush and Marve shared the top spot during spring practice.

Hope said about Marve: "... We want him to begin practice with the mindset that he is the guy."

Now that Purdue has a No. 1 quarterback, here are other key questions heading into the 2010 season:

* Who emerges in the secondary?

* How does the offensive line shape up with only two returning starters?

* Will more starters play on special teams this season?

* Does Purdue have enough depth at running back after Ralph Bolden's knee injury?
