I was surprised by this. Johnson is a great person and a guy you would play hard for, but the timing was awful. I still think there is something missing on this:shrug:

agree with this. What was the status of his contract (i.e. how many years were left)?

As for the timing goes I think the reason mentioned about wanting to ensure his staff had a job this year makes sense. Other than that the timing does seem odd. But maybe there's nothing else to read into it and he just decided it was time move on. I know he and his staff were highly respected within the league and overall. He helped bring Vandy to the position where you could not just pencil them in as an automatic win on your schedule.

Agreed with most all of that.

I actually had Spencer Tillman on my show the other day and asked him why Vandy wouldn't go after a triple option HC. He thought it made sense based on the fact that the option requires guys who are very smart hence Navy, Army, Air Force, and GT running it

I've often wondered why they didn't try that route also Skip. It sure hasn't hurt AF, Navy, or Ga Tech. I think it's kinda a mental thing also, how many DB's 'really' like defending the run.
