I used to know what principles each party stood for....

Now I have to ask---What really is a Republican? What is a Democrat? I guess I am a little ashamed to admit that I can no longer tell the difference.

Maybe if I share my beliefs...you can tell me exactly what I am? (Don't post a picture of some hillbilly :142smilie )

The core of my beliefs is that the government should stay the hell out of my life. Stop reaching in my pocket and giving it back to the bankers. Government should never even debate about taking my guns or threaten to shut down my sources of information (news) or manipulate the message to sway my opinion. I believe these environmental laws are just as evil as the Federal Reserve Act in 1913.

I believe the war on drugs is another government con game on the american people. They should just legalize/regulate and release the tens of thousands of people being incarcerated for personal possession. If you sell it to kids...you should go to jail. If you are using for recreational purposes and you don't bother me or others...its none of the governments business.

I obviously believe cap and trade is a ridiculous bill that will flatten this country financially...if the bank bailouts, social security and unlawful wars haven't already doomed our existence.

I believe most of our politicians are puppets of the world bankers. I believe the health care bill also rivals the fed reserve act in greedy evil.

I believe the 55% death tax is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.....especially if the government will eventually control my health....now they get 55% of my assets if I die? Some incentive to keep me alive! My kids get 45%...wow, that seems reasonable. :0074

I believe income tax is an unconstitutional burden placed on all Americans. However, I do understand and agree that everybody should share in funding a smaller non-invasive government.

I believe in social programs that do help disabled people not capable of pursuing prosperity because of their handicap. I absolutely loathe the welfare program and think it is vehicle to laziness and abuse.

Okay---I rambled on enough...I really don't know what party I support any more because I don't think any support my principle beliefs.

Am I the only one feeling this way? By the way---I often agree with Glenn Beck...but, at times feel he is just an eccentric shock jock.

God Bless us all...this won't end well.

Careful Wilson,

You soon will be compared to me.

I never agree with Beck though, he is

always checking which way the wind is blowing and I do believe besides being a shock jock and a slick snake oil salesmen he is dangerous.

I understand your dilemma here. Almost no difference between the 2 big parties. Decent dems and decent republicans are being fooled into thinking there is still a difference between themselves worth arguing over. We are pawns missing the big picture.

BTW - don't worry - you are not making enough money to be subject to 55% death tax. That's for the billionaires and I completely believe in it. ....Think of it as a 'Paris Hilton' tax instead of death tax. It was created over 100 years ago to keep us from becoming Europe-style oligarchy. We once held a belief that people shouldn't be born into automatic domination over the rest of us. This belief was considered a good thing until the talking heads owned by the rich renamed it 'death tax' and made conservative peasents think they were actually affected by it. Estate tax money has been recirculated into the common good for a century. Our *best* century.:0008

I agree with a lot of what you're talking about. If you want to close the gap on our deficit, this would be one of the best ways to go.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_Drugs

A 2008 study by Harvard economist Jeffrey A. Miron has estimated that legalizing drugs would inject $76.8 billion a year into the U.S. economy ? $44.1 billion from law enforcement savings, and at least $32.7 billion in tax revenue ($6.7 billion from marijuana, $22.5 billion from cocaine and heroin, remainder from other drugs). Recent surveys help to confirm the consensus among economists to reform drug policy in the direction of decriminalization and legalization.

How's that for a cost savings. :0074

This is a great documentary about the farce that is the 'war on drugs'. We've capitulated to such a wasteful dishonest cause.

I am pretty sure that we do not agree on too much Wilson but we agree on this. My own opinion on this is that the Neocons have infiltrated both parties and neither party can be trusted now.:toast:

Smurphy,

Thanks for the video info, I have gotten half way thru, although most of this I have already known. I have posted many stories on this, It's happening now in Afghanistan ! When I was in the CA National Guard I was on Team ******* and worked with the DEA and did Marijuana Field Extraction, that shit was not fun, especially with all the booby traps.

I'll see if I can help...

During the '08 campaign, you slammed Obama hard and often. Based on that and your "core beliefs", it's clear you're not a liberal or a Democrat. So I think we can rule those out... ;)

The only core belief you espoused that might indicate you have some Libertarian leanings is your position on legalizing drugs. But only people incapable of independent thought actually support every single position taken by the party they align themself with.

Based on the values you've provided, you're still a Republican. No doubt about that. My guess is you've voted Republican your entire adult life, no?

Conspicuous by its absence was your postion on foreign policy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall you supporting the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. My guess is you still support big military spending and our bullshit wars in the Middle East, which would further confirm your status as a Republican drone.

I hope that helps. :0008
