i've been looking at this texas@tampa bay series a good bit due to the intriguing series line of texas +120 / tampa -140. looking at the 2nd and 3rd games, i'm putting lines of -140 and -135 on em for the home team. due to the way hunter's been givin up hits (22 last 12ip) and the #s shields gets at home. would have them higher but it's texas in town not detroit or boston so the line's gonna come down a little bit. having said that, and having seen the way tampa's been struggling at the plate the last few weeks... i gotta say i like texas in all 3. if my #s are right, and texas takes 2 of 3, we get 135-165. with that, and with no value on the tampa side, i'm gonna wait for tomorrow's line and if it's not off by much, take texas in all 3.
this detroit line is ridiculous. +240 with scherzer+verlander+bonderman? yanks throw vazquez+CC+moseley out there. moseley's been better than expected, yes. i set games 2 and 3 at -170 and -160, giving some good value if the tigers get to vazquez like they should and scherzer can hold the yanks down just a little bit. with the yankees slumpin like they are at the plate, i like the chances.

the marlins are on their 3rd city and 7th day of a 10-day road trip. they got swept in cincy and before the--i think fluky--sweep of the nats, they dropped 5 of 6. the bucs have some positives though (despite their 6 road Ls in a row coming into today): they had a profitable split vs COL first wk of aug, are just better at home, and are actually profitable at home. i don't like volstad and this line's come way down from the open--wish i had played it last night, but oh well. just a spec play here. gonna watch tonight and see if they're worth a play in games 2 and 3 with Duke and against a struggling Josh Johnson.
