Girlfriend beaten over bad steak: Cops
A Barrie, Ont., man is facing several charges after allegedly beating his girlfriend Sunday for not cooking his steak properly.
Police said they were called to a home after the man took offence "over the level of tenderness in a steak his girlfriend had cooked for him."
The man allegedly punched the woman, knocked her to the ground and then hit her in the thigh with a metal pole. He then threw the woman's purse onto the front lawn where it was soaked by the rain, police said.
When cops arrived the man had already fled but an officer spotted him Monday parked near his home.
Sgt. Daniel Mafturack said the woman suffered minor injuries.
Police didn't know Monday whether the steak that sparked the argument had been overcooked or wasn't cooked enough.
A 26-year-old man, whose name wasn't released, is charged with assault, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
