I think Tiger is the right choice.

I'm pretty sure I will be in the minority with this thought.

And the naysayers will be pulling against him during the whole thing so they can say "I told you so"

They won't say shit if he performs above .500 in his matches.

I do hope he performs. I don't want him to suck - maybe he will be a good pick - then again maybe not.

I want USA to win!!!!!!!!!!:00hour

Pavin's hand was forced to pick Tiger and I mean FORCED due to TV ratings. (Or he was given a nice check to do so)

Those are my thoughts anyway...........

this is exactly what i was going to type when I saw title of thread...

pure TV ratings....nuff said!!!

I think he was the right choice for ratings/interest. I do not feel he was the right choice based on play. Having said that and even including my total dislike of the man, I will still be rooting for the U.S., and that includes him:00hour

Would hate to be in pavin's shoes --cause you can't please everyone.
I'm not a Tiger fan -but can see as with most Captain's picks--pro and cons on Tiger.
I have no prob with him being selected-nor any of the other picks.

I think he can be effective in match play as his nemisis since his character exposer has been big #'s on a few hole--you can get away with that in match play--and he still has intimidation factor.

Euro's will be very tough to beat regardless who is on the team.

Their biggest asset is comraderie factor. Many times in Euro events there is only one hotel and all stay same place--U.S. is more individuals going their own way with many flying in and out on own planes--never even having chance to meet many of newer tour players.

I think if one found stats on Euro's records in team format vs individual format --that theory would play out.

I have no problem with Pavin's picks either, because let's face it...there should not be anyone who feels snubbed on the American side....personally I though Fowler was a bit of a stretch since he has not won on the Tour (and I am a huge fan of the kid I love his style of play and think he will be great, but he still has a way to go)

Tiger was the right choice, who would Pavin pick over him? Lucas Glover?

The US team would look a little stronger if Anthony Kim did not get hurt....this European team is stacked and is going to be very hard to beat.

i can see why Fowler was selected but i think he will end up being a poor choice - i will not fancy a 21 year old's chances going up against a guy like a Padraig Harrington in an impt match

to me charley hoffman would have been a great selection, just the kind of guy who i would want in a team format - i know he was under the radar until last weekend but who cares? that's why they moved the selection process back anyway - what did Fowler do in the last few weeks to merit a pick???
