I agree there has been a slight shift in the SEC. It's Alabama as Elite. Florida / South Carolina as the next rung of talent and then no one except maybe Arkansas.

HUGE drop after that.

Pretty thin this year.

*Note: Auburn homer.

AVG??? YOU BEING VERY KIND...

they do have about 9 ranked teams, so that proves the conf is dominant!

:mj07:

it's been a proven equation for years with this conf

get ranked pre-season
play nobody ooc
move up in rankings
lose to each other in conf
stay in rankings
claim "we're the best"
start over next year.

Still very early, but Ole Miss, Vandy, Miss State, Tenneshe don't look like teams going bowling.

South Carolina & Florida look fairly tough early, but Florida still has warts. Both teams have the talent to be top 10 teams all year, but nothing incredibly special.

Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, & Kentucky will all go bowlng, but none of them looks really solid. Arkansas appears to have the most potential and I believe they were overlooking La-Monroe with a couple tough games coming... easy to not show much in this situation.

Alabama looks very solid.

YOU JUST NAILED IT... AND WE BEEN BUYING THIS BULLSHIT... AND WHEN THEY LOSE A GAME, IT WAS A FLUKE, AND THEN WE HEAR, OH IF YOU PLAYED IN OUR DIVISION YOU'D (UTAH and others in past) have LOSSES ALL OVER THE PLACE.. If SEC played teams like Boise St, ORG, even say AZ :mj07: :mj07: , the 1 team fortunate enough to win the divsion might not RUN THE SEASON IMO...

Shit, I dont want to get in this again... Your post couldnt be said any plainer or better IMO...

BIG 10 Corley is comparable at this point in the season and Pac 10 has its moements (and teams I guess)... But no CONF is dominant... They just are BULLSHIT RANKED...

This season is all fucked up on rankings... I think they put em out all fucked up for one reason... TO THROW "JOE PUBLIC BETTOR" ALL OUT OF WACK... How many non ranked teams beat ranked teams last 2 weeks???

#15 is not a good spot to be... Both weeks #15 has lost to a non ranked team... And good old #13 lost to JAMES MADISON.... (they are 2-0 too ALA and FLA :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: )

Anyone want to take a moment and run down ATS betting 100 on each SEC team favored playing non conference team on how they did; and then Big 10, Pac 10, and finally ACC???? (RANKED TEAMS ONLY)

(I hope the question makes sense; IMO, covering the spread SHOULD have something to do with rankings and how bad they beat a team as well as the strength of the team....)

James Madison should get more "rating points" for beating ranked #13 Ga Tech than say Stanford beating UCLA.... RIGHT??? (itll never happen, because next week JAMES MADISON will probably play some shit team and their win would get them hardly any "rating points" cuz the opponent strength is so small, thus they move down some against other teams that won and beat a much great opponent... THAT IS HOW Id like to see the top 25.. (NEVER WILL HAPPEN)

I'm sorry but this is about the dumbest argument I've ever heard... When a conference wins a NC 5 out of the last 7 years it's pretty hard to argue against that... What other conference is known for big fast defenses?

You have a point IN THE PAST... BUT what the hell does it have to do WITH THIS YEAR... AND THESE INFLATED JOKES OF RANKING.. SHIT UTAH WASNT RANKED AND THEY DID PERFECT BEATING YOU KNOW WHO (ALA, the new FLA I guess; Im sure we will see a HUGE bandwagon of fans jump FLA's ship upon their 1st loss to ALA (if they dont lose when they play a team this year either)...

I hate coming off as a SEC hater, but they have really blown their horn too loudly only to have "little guys" put a cork in that horn. Why was ALA ranked 1 and Utah NON RANKED??? I know it wasnt based on HOW WELL THEY PRACTICED AFTER THEIR LOSS THE LAST GAME THEY PLAYED PRIOR TO THE SEASON...

I don't blow my horn about anything... I just let everything play out... I really don't care what the SEC does... I had Oregon tonight... but I hate it when the haters come out and try dog the SEC... and it's usually the Pac 10... The reason everyone has such a high perception of the SEC is because they are basically the only conference that thrives off Defense... big fast defenses....

Maybe other conferences should pick up on it

Remember the old saying... Offense wins games... but defense wins championships...

Im MTN West fan and Big 10 fan, if one can be a fan of a conference (No way in hell I claim to be)... Only 2 teams I root as a fan (I guess Im a fan) is the 2 schools I went to... U of Mich and U of Utah... ORG has really impressed me.. USC is a joke, FLA is a joke, of course the SIX ranked team losses are a joke for being ranked that high and then being proven they shouldnt have been...

I would never be speaking of the Pac 10/12 if Utah wasnt going there... Michigan has been a JOKE.... TIL THIS YEAR... They have caught my eye..... BYU WILL ALWAYS BE A JOKE SINCE Mc Mann left it, and so are their rules...

Anyways, Capt Morgan is speaking through me, and to be honest, Im not sure what Im trying to say; so I say good night, and good luck! Cuz it doesnt mean shit unless you cover the SPREAD!

GO ROCKIES!

I've said all along that the SEC is WAY Down this year. You have Bama and then everyone else. Florida may be good at the end of the season, right now South Carolina is the best team in the east.

Vandy always finds a way to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory

Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss. St. - will all fight for the .500 mark to go bowling.

For the rest, it is way too early to tell. I think Bama loses one game, but the one team I though would get them isn't looking too good yet. They may be hiding some things.

If Tennessee goes 6-6 Dooley should be given a raise.
5 new offensive linemen
new QB
new RB
They had to convert 2 WR to DBs to start camp
Only one true DT - everyone else hurt
I think they hired the right guy, but you can only do so well with no depth.

I good idea is to do what I did last night and wait until halftime to go against the Vols. They have talent, but very young and very thin.

I am a fan, but money is money:shrug:

Which conference is the most dominant then?

there isnt one.....like most years....THATS THE POINT.

the sec fans, teams, coaches and media ALWAYS over-rate the teams in this conf, when it's structured JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER CONF

one or two top end teams (fla-bama recently)

a bunch of teams in the middle (most everyone else)

one or two dogs at the bottom (vandy-miss st recently)

it's the middle and bottom tier teams who ALWAYS get severly overrated every year becasue of pre-season rankings, poor ooc schedules, losing to each other (hey, we're so good that's a quality loss) and conf perception.........when the reality is, the middle of the sec is as good or bad as almost every other bcs conf.

now, they've had the best TEAM recently with the winner of the bcs title......but that winner shouldnt automatically make arkansas or vandy or ole miss a better team

want to be the dominant conference that you think you are.....go on the road in ooc season, vs bcs teams......AND WIN......and keep scheduling these games, not the la monroe's of the world

 I have never understood early rankings as we all see what happened to virginia Tech???? Personally would like to see the first poll come out after week#5 as that would eliminate some of the garbage out of the rankings. FWIW

@ Arkansas - I think this is the only team that has a good enough passing game to expose Bama's secondary early in the season - two weeks from now.

They also have to go to Columbia, but Arkansas is the one I had circled.

Bama is going to beat Duke, but I will be interested to see if Duke is successful in moving the football through the air next week. I think they will be able to score through the air.
