thanks for the writeup:0074

yes the 100k mile warranty was from the mileage I bought the car so up to 140k

Mercedes has a LOCK on the parts industry as there are ZERO parts that can be purchased that are not from a dealership:scared

only way you can save money on repair work is from service shops that charge less hourly labor....the one I go is highly rated and they charge $89 an hour....the Mercedes dealership is $215 an hour:scared

I will have this car paid for in 6 months and just hope that it does not need much in repairs and I only drive 10-12k miles a year

thanks :0008

been in the shop twice in a year...once was some air pollution valve...that was $500...not covered...the 2nd was a 12 pack of Diet Dr pepper exploding within the box in the 100 degree heat and shorting out my entire seat belt/air bag computer switch...$600....not covered

WAS it a Benz dealer service department, any chance that emmision valve is covered under base emmision warranty from MB?

Might pay to call and ask, if it was not a MB dealer that repaired it. Won't hurt to check if it is covered component repair and you have the receipt, good chance of reimbursement from MB.

ONE MORE QUICK TIP, often the manufacturer will release a customer satisfaction special policy due to tragic failure rate and specific components on a model. My CANYON and all COLORADO's and Canyon's built from start of production thru 2007 (I think, mine is a 2006), have a special policy on the cylinder head on the 3.5L five cylinder engine. They were repeat offenders, so GM pushed the coverage out to 5/100K. 2002 - 2004 Buick Rendevzous (sic) had front wheel bearing problems and had a replacement special policy up to 60K miles I think it was.

Never hurts to ask kindly at the dealer's service department about such possiblilities:)

You are welcome!

WOW $215,.....that is tough, dealers spend a lot in training and special tools, but they want that service department to turn a large profit also!

You only go around once so enjoying a nice ride if you desire it is worth it.

I sell a few parts to a tech at a competitor's HIGH END shop, he works on auto's for friends and family on the side at a nice rate, sounds like you already have a solution to the crazy labor rate !

you were probably typing that nice writeup on my last post and missed it but no, never gone to MB service as labor is astronomical but parts still MUST come from there....and the the emissions repair was of course about 3 months past the basic 4yr/50k warranty from MB

I do appreciate your help and will holler at you in the future for advice as I basically know how to just use the keys on the car:toast:
