My guess is now OTB due to Brantley injury, but am not sure. I have not heard much on Brantley, but will post here if I do. Hopefully some locals can fill us in. I took LSU +7.5

I like that play. We have yet to see what LSU can do if they don;t turn the ball over. We have to be dead last in the nation in takeaways (because we have given it away countless times). If LSU doesn't turn it over, they can beat Florida. Everyone is talking about the clock mismanagement at the end of the game but that never ever happens if we don't piss it away 6 times? Or was it 5? You can't beat ANYONE turning it over 5 times signed VA TECH HOKIES.

Gators dispel oddsmakers rumor of Brantley injury

Florida offensive coordinator Steve Addazio said Tuesday there's no truth to the rumor that starting quarterback John Brantley is injured and could miss UF's game against LSU on Saturday.

News of a possible injury to Brantley trickled its away across the country Tuesday morning and resulted in several Las Vegas casinos removing Saturday's showdown between the No. 14 Gators and No. 12 LSU from their betting boards.

"I'm a bit sore," Brantley said to the media Monday morning. "It's nothing major."

Brantley was attended to by trainers after being hit in last Saturday's loss to No. 1 Alabama, but said Monday he expected to practice through the week and play against the Tigers.

But as rumors spread that his status may be in doubt for the weekend, Las Vegas casinos removed the game from among those eligible for wagers.

"We're hearing that (Brantley) is questionable," said Jay Kornegay, Sportsbook Director at the Las Vegas Hilton. "Whenever we get confirmation, either way, what his status is, if he's playing or not, that'll make it a betting game again."

A UF spokesman on Tuesday said Brantley is fine and is expected to play Saturday.

Kornegay said his sportsbook may wait until as late as it can to re-post the game due to the uncertainties surrounding both Brantley and the inexperience of backup Trey Burton.

"If the backup quarterback is comparable, we can usually throw it back up a little faster," he said. "But if you have a freshman quarterback that hasn't played much, and I'm not talking just about Florida, we usually try to wait as long as we can to put it back up because there's a big difference in the caliber of player."

More should be known about Brantley's status when he's scheduled to meet with the media late this afternoon.

How bad is Brantley hurt?

A relatively quiet day on the Florida football beat took a turn toward the frenetic when the latest betting line came out in the morning. The line (UF favored by seven) was dropped by the Las Vegas oddsmakers for the UF-LSU game. The reason stated was: Florida quarterback questionable.

This came out of nowhere. John Brantley met with the media on Monday and said he was sore from Saturday?s game, but nothing out of the ordinary and he was good-to-go for Saturday night?s game against LSU.

Brantley apparently injured his ribs late in the fourth quarter when he tried desperately to run for a first down on a fourth-down play. Brantley came up just short after being drilled by two Alabama defenders. It took several moments before he could get up and leave the field. But he returned later in the game, and nothing more was thought about it.

During interviews Tuesday, offensive coordinator Steve Addazio was asked if Brantley would be playing against LSU. Addazio said: ?He?s doing great.?

Offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert said that Brantley was limited in practice Sunday night, but should be fine.

No. 2 quarterback Trey Burton said he would be ready to run the offense Saturday night if needed, but he won?t have to.

?Brantley is good,? Burton said. ?He?s going to be able to play.?

Of course, last Thursday, the word from the football team was that starting place-kicker Caleb Sturgis also was battling through pain after injuring his back a few weeks ago lifting weights. Then it was learned on Friday that Sturgis would not make the trip to Alabama and could miss as many as eight weeks.

Will Brantley be playing Saturday? All indications are he will. But we might have to wait and see.

Quote on Gator injuries from man in the know:

Patchan is out again. Brantley and Demps are going to play, but neither is at full strength.
