Is the AFC South the best division in the NFL?

1. No team below .500 this year after 6 weeks
2. Last year they had the best divisional winning percentage
3. Last year the jags were the worst team at 7-9

* I know last year doesn't mean much but it is good for reflection

So. Cal
i guess if you look at it from bottom up, it might be the best div since it has no dogs

but if you look at it from top down jax-ten-hou are all average teams where as pitt-balt are very good (with cin slightly below avg)....ne + nyj are very good (with mia avg) and the afc west is barely better than the wac.

***you need to remember top to bottom.

East has the winless Bills (0-5)
North has the Bengals (2-3) and Browns (1-5)
West has Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers all 2 games below .500

poor old AFC west.... I couldn't agree more about the AFC south only having 1 decent post-season team.
The East has 2 and so does the North.

i understand what your sayin, but i am lookin at it like this....

If the steelers/ravens, or pats/jets played anyone from the south with the exception of indy, its a no brainer who wins. (houston improving but not quite there)

now Miami and cincy are next, well i still think they are both overall better ball clubs but i am biased i am a dolphins fan so of course i wanna say they would be houston/jax/tenn, but i honestly do feel they would. I also think cincy hangs with all of these teams mentioned. Now i realize buffalo and cleveland stink and hurt my argument but comeon Indy rolls everyyear through this division for a reason, the other teams are simply mediocre at best...

Dolphins could suprise some ppl if they sneak in...they hung with the JETS until the end, and they were beating the PATS at the half until their special teams, or lack there of, fucked up royaly. Now dont misunderstand me, I do not at all think the dolphins are capable of winning a superbowl this year, but i honestly feel they are above a majority of AFC teams

And Cincy and Miami both beat Jax and probably beat Houston. Lets not forget Houston beat an over achieving KC team and lost to a 1-5 Dallas team at home. Tennesse has already got dismantled by Pitt with no QB. Indy is the only "contender" in that conference. None of them want to play in Pitt or Balt come January.

Indy manhandled Baltimore and Jets last year. Sorry, I just had to say that.

As far as grading the divisions.... It's easy to judge how good the good teams are, but how do you judge how bad the bad teams are? Does that make sense? My point is, if you had every team play every other team in the NFL how would each division fare?

Division against Division the AFC east would probably beat the AFC south. But if you played all teams in the NFL together, you would be able to get a better indication between great, good, mediocre, bad, and terrible teams.

Does this make sense?

Im sorry are we talking about last year? If we are im pretty sure the Colts beat the Ravens by 2 last year... hardly manhandling anyone then they came back and played pretty well against a tired raven team in the second rd. Big deal. As well werent they down 11 against the Jets and a rookie QB in the AFC Championship? Again hardly a game where they manhandled anyone.

Why is it right away when someone challenges your opinion you turn it into all about Indy? Bottom line is that Indy is a good team and no question but if you count the rest of that trash as quality then you are sadly mistaken.

AFC south best in the NFL??? the worst team is 4-4

besides the colts, who arent the powerhouse they have been, the south is full of mediocre teams just like most of the league. There is no real powerhouses.

I stand by my earlier post, I think the East is the best hands down (PATS JETS PHINS all would beat the bottom 3 teams from the south and all would be good games with the colts )

North is also close with the steelers and Ravens. I think they are the best two teams in the AFC. I know PATS and Colts fans arent going too like that statement, but I think the way the steelers play defense and get after the quarterback is the difference between them and the rest of the league. Baltimore also very aggressive on D, and now have the weapons too put up big points. Cincy is also good. Browns actually have been in a lot of games this year, just seem to fuck up bad towards the end of the game.

AFC west, well my dads a raides fan so guess he enjoys watching that terrible ball out there...by far the worst division in the AFC

According to record wise that is correct, but the public perception is no. Not trying to ignorant...

Indy, as long as Manning is there they are a perennial threat every year to win the SB. No questions here.

Tennessee, extremely well coached team with maybe the best player in the NFL, consistent performer that also plays physical D.

Houston, some talent, but look until they make the playoffs nothing to really to talk of. Young team, can't really stop the pass. Has the ability to win and lose to anybody. Future is bright.

Jax, is awful despite their record.

AFC East has to be in the discussion if not the favorite or toughest division, even Buffalo despite their 0-7 record is in every game. Miami wins all their games on the road. NE-NYJ are what they are.

AFC North, Pitt and Balt fairly consistent, lean towards Balt being better with more options on offense and defenses are close. Cincy is a disappointment, and Cleveland isnt that bad. I would take both of them over Jax.

Now who would you take....

NE vs Indy, flip a coin
NJY vs Tenn, NYJ
Miami vs Houston, flip a coin
Jax vs Buffalo, Jax already beat them

Baltimore vs Indy, IMO I would take Baltimore
Pitt vs Tenn, Pitt already beat them
Cincy vs Houston, probaly lean Houston
Cleveland vs Jax, flip a coin

NE vs Baltimore, NE already beat them
NYJ vs Pitt, Pitt Sanchez will shit himself
Miami vs Cincy, Miami already beat them
Buffalo vs Cleveland, flip coin

By looking at that model above, I would lean towards the AFC East being the toughest division based off of NE, NYJ, and Miami. I will go back to sleep now....

is everyone forgetting best division in the NFL? i'm not trying to be mean but you can't compare division to division without taking into consideration the entire NFL.

the AFC East would have 3 decent teams, but buffalo would bring them close to 0-31 if they played all of the other teams.

buffalo would beat a couple of teams. they wouldnt lose anymore hardly then the jaguars..the jags wouldnt be favored in hardly any games...i understand your a diehard colts fan , and i respect that but besides indy, the south has nothin special.
