On the course!
I know a lot of people will DVR games. I can understand that if you are going to be off some place by yourself, and can get home and then watch it. But what about these guys who will tape the game, and then be out in public? Like at their wives' whatever event, etc.....and get pissed beyond belief when a couple of guys will say something about "the game"?

"Hey! Shut up!!! I taped the game!"

So, what is your spin on that? Are you supposed to not talk about the news of the day because of this guy, or is he a humongous tool for expecting you to live in a bubble with him?

Can't you just sack up, and watch whatever portion of the game you see, and what you miss, you miss?

I record games - only when I absolutely have to be out....but then I stay away from people who might say something and I don't look at my phone incase I get an update from ESPN or something - I am very protective of it and if I accidentally hear something - then it was my fault, not theirs.

sounds like "borderline personality"....these a-holes tend to react more intensely to lower levels of stress...trivial shit......it`s all about "them"....

i doubt that`s this yay-yo`s only problem...he`ll be fine...probably just go somewhere and cut himself...

My son plays football and a lot of his games start at 12:00 and end at 2. I DVR the Patriots if they have a 1pm game and start watching it when I get home, a lot of the dads do this.
The announcers were told a couple of years ago not to give updates of the Pats games, because so many people record the games and were getting mad when they would hear the score over the PA.

My wife learned a hard lesson about this last year actually.

I have never dvr'd or taped a game. ever. and I'm not a big fan of the dorks that do. If the game was that important to me, I would stay home and watch it. My wife always harped on me to just record it, and I would respond with - what's the point of watching if you know the end result?

So last year, my kids are invited to a great big birthday party with parental involvement required - on the same day as Navy vs Air Force.

So I opt to be father of the year and go to the party. My logic for recording the Navy game was simple
1. Navy is not a widely covered game out there. I didn't have to worry about hearing the score on the radio
2. 99% of the other dads at the party are pussies and all they know is the navy has great big boats - so I wasn't concerned about them even realizing Navy had a football team.

So I go to the party, win father of the year, make the wife happy.. eat dinner. and then settle down for some peace and quiet to watch the big game.

My wife is all smiles because she got what she wanted that afternoon, and I was happy that I would get to see the game finally and didn't have it ruined.

Then, my wife checks her facebook page, and stands there and says

"Wow! The mids got an extended liberty night tonight!"

To those familar with the military academies, free time is limited, and when your football team wins a big game - sometimes you will be granted overnight liberty, or a few extra hours.

I gave her the option of calling ahead for a bed at the battered women's shelter that night or calling the lawyer to draw up divorce papers.

Where it is real F ing COLD
When I was a kid I lived in the country and didn't have satellite or ESPN. I was a huge Northstars game and they were always on cable.. My Uncle would tape it and my dad would pick up the tape after work.. It was great cause the kids I grew up with never followed hockey..
I still ruined it many times by listening in on the radio.. too much anticipation..

Thanks for pointing that out to the other 99% pussies in here.

I'm not claiming navy to be a football powerhouse.

i am standing by my statement that 99% of the dads in my area are pussies though.

I have taped games in the past and I never minded knowing the final score.

reason

I didnt have to sit there for 3 hours .

I just fast forwarded and watched the plays .

Thats all I wanted to see anyway.

Watched the game in 1 hour and saw what I needed to see.

Hate that guy. How about you walk the fuck away if you don't want to hear about it.

I do think there is a need to prepare people if you are talking about a movie with a big spoiler.
