I don't bet too much on college basketball anymore, but it used to be my best sport. Very hard to do enough research needed when you own your own business.
Having said that - I am playing Belmont big tonight +15 at Thompson Boling Arena against my Vols. Even more, I am hitting the ML at +925 for a 1/2 unit.:scared
Tennessee lost 4 year starter Wayne Chism, JP Prince, and floor general Bobby Maze last year, so there are many new faces on this team. The biggest issue facing UT right now, is leadership. Scotty Hopson fouled out in an exhibition lost to DII Indianapolis, and got in foul trouble again Friday against UT-Chattanooga. He was also only 1-6 from 3 point range.
Pearl likes to go with at least a 10 man rotation, which means it is going to take some time for the newbies to get used to it. Freshman Tobias Harris has clearly been the lone bright spot thus far for the Vols, and dropped 18 pts and 5 boards against the Mocs.
Melvin Goins is the floor general, but I don't think he is enough of a threat to knock down the outside shot to bother teams.
The Vols were 5-20 from beyond the arc against UTC, and only 21-31, 67%, from the FT line.
Belmont has NCAA tourney experience, and Rick Byrd is a great coach that you probably have never heard of. A year ago they were coming off an NCAA tourney birth with four seniors gone. This team will be experienced and ready for the big stage.
Keys
Belmont is going to knock down 3's period. UT cannot try to match them.
Tobias Harris, Brian Williams, and transfer John Fields, have to dominate inside, or there is no other way for UT to cover this high number.

Belmont +925 ML for a 1/2 Unit
