now let me start by saying I am the biggest Bama fan around...I have posted NOTHING negative on this whole situation since this started and I hope it comes up negative because i think Cam is the best I have ever seen in CFB and I hope Bama can beat Auburn with their best next week....this article will take you at least an hour to read and was posted from someone from LA...I am just posting something that I found posted on that site and has some unbelievable info...take it for your own interpretation

The FBI has been investigating Colonial Bank and Louder for a number
of possible violations in the financial market crash which are
unrelated to AU. Part of the investigation involved gambling fraud
between McGregor and Colonial Bank. Something called the Rico Stature
allowed the justice department to set up wiretaps on Colonial Bank.
On the wiretaps the FBI found major AU recruiting infractions involving
Louder, McGregor, Dye, Trooper, boosters and others.
Here?s what they say the FBI has on tape and can prove AU did:

? The people above are on tape explaining who they paid and how they did it.
? It involves many AU players
? Providing unmarked Colonial Bank ATM cards to players to withdraw
money from secret accounts.
? Giving ?slot machine cards? to the players, which now involves the
Alabama Gaming Commission.
? Provided improper loans to some of the families in our last and
current recruiting class.
? The NCAA ?strongly? recommended that AU sit Cam for GA. game because
of the mounting evidence.
? President Grogue wanted to sit Cam but was overruled by Louder and
the Board of Trustees.
? Coach Chizik knows none of this and has been lied to by Jacobs.
? The people named above know the S%#& is going to hit the fan ?big
time? and have decided ?we?re going down? so lets win the title even
if they take it away later.
? Slive knew about this early and sat on the information and is also
in the ?crosshairs? of the FBI..
? The corruption is so deep at the highest level (trustees) that AU
will be evicted from kicked out of the SEC.
? This will be revealed by the end of the week.

And you know me. This isn't about football. This is about Auburn University at this point.

I haven't stated one thing other than I'm going to enjoy the games as entertainment.

I knew something was up when Auburn's recruiting class went to a top 5 earlier in the year.

The fan in me said maybe the new coaching staff had an uncanny ability to recruit...

If TCU/Boise don't play for the BCS championship and 1/10th of this happens to be true (I only read 1/10th of the article) then there will be enormous repercussions for CFB as a whole. Auburn will also be in the firing line for some meaty lawsuits and they may not play a meaningful game of football for the rest of my lifetime.


I really, really hope Bama beat them and avoid this sorry situation.

Here's my big question. IMO college sports are successful for one big reason and it's the coach. If you can get a great HC and good assistants that recruit well then you'll win. The top coaches are money motived(see Saban) so why not go out and use all of this money spent on PFP on a coach and his staff. Instead they go out and get Gene from Iowa State when they're not even any good.

I don't even know if this stuff is true, it just strikes me as weird they wouldn't try it the right way.

I was halfway kidding, not blaming you at all, I hope its not true but Lowder was corrupt when I was there, ran whoever was against him out of town, so if he orchestrated this then lock him up along with his henchmen.

Stopped reading the article when I saw information from W&L. Even everyone on the guys home website say he is the worst rumor starter around. Since his information was put out first, I'm assuming the article only went downhill from there. I would say anything that comes from a rival teams message board is about as credible as if I tried to claim some inside sources.

Hate to be the voice of reason but:

The problem is that these rumors aren't backed in any sort of fact. The time frame for McGregor's wire taps (March 1 - April 8) don't match up with the time frames being discussed here. The time frame for Cecil to receive a "jackpot" would have been AFTER Langford was already busted for doing that (Sept 2009), so McGregor would have to be INSANE to try to give out money that way after he was already caught doing it with Langford. Colonial Bank was shut down (August 2009) PRIOR to us even recruiting Cam Newton.

That last sentence is the red flag... How on earth does a program that was in the shape Auburn was in and a coach who hasn't proven himself yet not be recruiting a big time recruit like Cam and in 3 months come out of left field and sign him? And this is over Oklahoma, who's program speaks for itself, and MSU where the head coach has a history with Cam and kept a close relationship with him? Not tryin to start a war but that just struck me as odd
