Here's my two cents on the whole National Championship situation....
If there was ever a time for an 8-team playoff, it would be this year. There isn't 1 team that you can look at and say....wow, that team is unbeatable. Oregon certainly has their strengths. The pace of play that they play at is incredible. This has almost always caught up with opposing teams in the 2nd half. However, the Ducks are far from perfect.....and certainly beatable.
I don't think there is a person that can say that Auburn is unbeatable, either. As many times as they have fallen behind by double figures (4 times I believe) and made comebacks shows 2 things. One, they are resilient and a tough team...but two, they are fallable and can be beaten.
Moving on to TCU. They could honestly be the most complete team. They are strong on both sides of the ball. Strong....but not incredible. Dalton is a good manager of the game as QB and the TCU "D" gets their props. However, would the TCU "D" be so wonderful if they didn't get to fatten up on more cupcakes than Auburn and Oregon?
Then lump the 1-loss teams together....which there are aplenty. Plenty of good teams to talk about there....any of which could put on a good show and play in a big-game situation.
I guess what i'm saying here is this.....no matter which two teams play in the BCS Nat'l Championship game, it should be entertaining to watch. And how many entertaining games would there be if you got the top 8 squads together and made them play in a bracket format? There wouldnt be one bad game.
Unfortunately though, bowl tie-ins will rob us from many of these great matchups. But whether the National Championship game is Oregon vs. Auburn, Auburn vs TCU, Oregon vs. TCU, or any other matchup that is still remotely possible.....it should be a great game and nobody will have a cakewalk.
