EL PASO -- Hurricanes quarterback Jacory Harris told reporters Monday he didn't mind playing in the cold, though, he admitted he had ``never seen snow in person.''
That changed Thursday night when it began snowing in El Paso.
``I always watched it on TV,'' Harris said. ``When I go to sleep at night I turn the air conditioner down to 40 so I can wake up in the cold and see how it is. I sleep like that all the time.'' :scared :142smilie
Harris and the Canes will be waking up to the cold Friday at the Sun Bowl. Temperatures at kickoff are expected to be in the 30s and feel like the 20s. Snow? It isn't in the forecast.
UM interim coach Jeff Stoutland has been telling reporters all week Harris has looked focused in practice. According to Stoutland, Harris caught him walking onto the field Wednesday -- instead of jogging -- and gave him a little lip for it.
``I was walking on the field, he ran by me and slapped me and said, `Hey coach, are you ready for practice today?' I said `I'm absolutely ready.' He said, `You don't look like you are.' I started chuckling. I said `This guy, his confidence right now is different than it has been.':142smilie :142smilie
``I think his decision-making -- which is the key ingredient for a quarterback -- right now is at his best. Coach [Mark] Whipple feels that way. We think he's a different player right now. We'll find out. We're going to see here in a couple hours.''
