Found it very interesting, when looking at the playoff matchups, that in ALL 4 first round games, the "wrong" team is hosting the game:

NFC

New Orleans at Sea/Stl - NO has the better record
GB at PHI - Identical records, but GB won head to head

AFC
Baltimore at KC - Balt has better record
Jets at Indy - Jets have better record

Has there every been a year where all 4 home teams are undeserving based on true records?

Maybe it is time for the NFL to revisit the automatic home game given to division winners?????

Agree with Trampled Foot... in baseball, the wild card team doesn't get home field. Win your division and you get home field even if you're 7-9 and might be a 10 point home dog next week which I'm sure would be a playoff record for largest home puppy.

I disagree. Win your division or shut up. Winning your division should count for something.

How can u post that after watching the Seattle game:shrug:

It should mean you dont get dissolved if that division gets it in the next year...:0074
THERE HAS TO BE A REVISITATION of this. WTH is it gonna look like when the defending SB Champs walk in SEATTLE as the visitor to the divison winning seahawks? I pray SEAN hangs 65 on them to really stick home the point

no way division winners should be handed an automatic home game

a playoff spot, yes.....but beyond that.....seed the teams according to overall records.

the divisions are spread so thin (only 4 teams) that it's easy (happened twice in 3 years) that a crappy division winner will host a playoff game vs a team with 4+ more wins.

AND

teams play just as many games out of division, but in conf as they do division games (thus.....you're not missing many conf teams) so the schedules are almost equal (as far as within the division)

and football isnt baseball......where home field is NOT as important, esp in the playoffs.

I'll say it again. If you can't win your division, you don't deserve a thing. Win your division or shut up.

then why invite wild cards to the playoffs?

but since they're invited......

win your division and make the playoffs, it's that easy, just gotta be better than 3 teams.....but then gets seeded where your record says you should be seeded when compared to the other 12 teams in your conf.

You have a point. Why invite them? They didn't win anything. However, since we know they are not going away they should have a harder road to go to get to the Super Bowl.

NFL should go back to 3 divisons with 3 wildcards would avoid this Seattle nonsense

right....but they spread the divisions so thin this was bound to happen (and has happened 3 times the last 3 years) which is why they should just seed according to overall records

hypothetically

atl is the 1 seed
say gb beats philly and sea upsets no

you mean to tell me that all the work atl did for 4 months and getting homefield advantage garners them a game vs the 6 seed (gb) instead of the 4 seed (sea) because the nfl reseeds (which they should do but only if they got the seeds right to begin with)????

as a bear fan, that's exactly what i'm rooting for but it's absolutely assanine.

almost as much as mlb having 4 teams in the al west but 6 teams in the nl central and 5 teams in every other division.

That is a good point.

it's all part of why they should seed them as per their records.....but these clowns in the nfl cant think that far ahead and just always thought that div winners would be better than wild card teams and esp better than the 2nd wild card team

what they failed and/or never realized is that by spreading things so thin they were bound to get 4 shitty teams in one division (and now they got it to the extreme with 10/11 win wild cards and 7 win div champs)

now i will say that you MUST be a division winner to get a bye (1-2 seed) by seeds 3-6 should be based on overall records.....this year would be a drastic difference

kc and sea would be 6 seeds.....not 4 seeds
no and balt would be 3 seeds....not 5 seeds
gb and ny would be 4 seeds ......not 6 seeds

plus, in their infinite wisdom of trying to keep teams playing vs resting people....switch the seeding this way and teams will be more likely to have to play people thru the last game to secure seeds.

Didn't they used to ignore the initial seeds when deciding homefield for the games after the opening round. I could have swore they used to. Anyway the way I would do it, is let the division winners have their homefield R1 games and then seed by record for the next round.

I guess it doesn't really matter now. The fact is you still have to play the game. It does suck that gb was picked to win con. But what happened was they didn't play very well all year. ( Injuries ) are part of life!. Philly Gb will be an awesome game. It's always too bad when someone has to go home . (early or a field goal later with no time left to go to the super bowl). Man Up and quit crying about seeding.
Everyone knows that to get the good seeds you need to take care of your own business and WIN!!! Win your division. :toast: :box2: I bet N.O. wished they had fared better in their division so they can get a first round bye or play at home than to get ASS KICKED to a lowly 7-9 Division WINNER:0002
