Sticking right at home I can pick two winners and losers real easily....
WINNERS:
Red Sox - It's hard not to love the moves the Sox have made this off season, from the big guns AGon and Crawford to small moves like Bobby Jenks to help sure up the bullpen. They've been very active and they're not done yet.
Orioles - The O's have quietly made some great moves this off-season. While they haven't made any big splashes they've steadily been adding solid bats and have an influx of youth headed to the majors. Next year will be the year of Brian Matusz, Jake Arieta, and Chris Tillman heading up a re-vamped young O's starting rotation. On the field Wieters will be another year older, and add veterans Derek Lee and Brian Roberts (hopefully healthy) to youngsters Felix Pie, Nick Markakis, Nolan Riemold, Adam Jones, and new pick-up Mark Reynolds. Will be a fun team to watch, could take the place of the Rays as a wild-card threat to the Yanks and Sox.
LOSERS:
Yanks - Ok, I'm a homer, but still - they haven't made the big moves we've all become accustomed to. The pitching rotation, mainly, needs huge work. Sabathia and Huhges, then who??? I didn't like the Russell Martin signing at all, another year in the minors for phenom Jesus Montero.
Rays - It's been really sad to see the Rays slowly pick apart their team. They will have to move on from either Shields or Garza but Hellickson should step in nicely as an ace next year. The real loss is Crawford/Pena combo to the lineup. I think fans are getting way to excited about Desmond Jennings and should brace for a big rebuilding year next year. I don't like Leslie Anderson at 1st next year, it's too soon for the Cuban defect to make an impact, and what a young infield with Brigniac, Anderson, and Sean Rod. Losing Bartlet will hurt defensively. And lastly their bullpen has been dismantled, losing all their veterans including their closer Soriano.
