Creighton +1 for 2 units - SIU is a team I continually play against. Hit some early on against them and have missed a few recently. SIU use to have one of the best home court advantages for a mid-major. However the last couple of years that, as well as the overall program, has slipped under Chris Lowery's watch. I expect it to continue this year and will look for positions like this where SIU is pitted against a team with veterans/experience and a decent coached squad.

For real

I think that Lowery is a bad,I mean really bad coach. He's had more than sufficient time to demonstrate his abilities. In fact, I really thought he should have been relieved of his duties by now. For sure, he doesn't recruit like his mentor did. I thought that he was a pretty darn good player but it has not translated into being a good coach. I remember Weber's teams at SIU and they were great. To be fair, Lowery did have a tough act to follow.

1-0 on the night. SIU blows a big lead, especially for a low scoring MVC game, and loses in OT.

FCP - Lowery has had his chances and SIU die-hards, which admittedly aren't great in numbers, do not like him. I know the school signed him to a long deal/extensikon after his initial success. Not sure if there is a big buy-out with that and that is perhaps why they are willing to put up with the ineptitude the last few seasons. Buying out a coach, even at mid-major coaching prices, can severely hurt a mid-major program. Lowery certaintly fooled them with the early success and 1 key assistant, Irvin - who has ties to the Chicago Public leagues. The promise of getting some decent Chicago talent down state helped get that extension imo.

Oh well I've rambled on long enough about a school most don't care about.
