had a reunion in Arkadelphia for Henderson St Football so I came up with a plan.... sold my 2 indoor club tickets for $500 each, played ND -6 for $1k........ so , "Dilly Dilly"
arkdelphia is where my wifes father was born . He ownned a propane truck and delivered propane to everyone in Paris Texas . He would have breakfast with all his buddies at a Texas diner and his buddies would not accept him as a Texan and make fun of him. . So he bragged about another guy from Arkansas who started Wall Mart. So he bought into Wallamart stocks in its infancy and the stock and stores took off. I have 4 children and all went to college on the money he made from Wallmart . I guess you don't make fun of someone from Arkansas because he was a millionaire . But despite his stock brokers telling him to invest on other stocks he put all is money on Wallmart. He lived in a bad section of Paris because he built his house. He even had his pickup truck converted to propane. My wife's mother died of cancer at a very young age. He didn't dress like a millionaire and wore his Dickies shirts and pants. He lived in a bad neighborhood and looked and acted like he was poor He was 6'6 and when he would fly up to NY to visit us you could smell the propane on his clothes. My wife would make him order from the JC Penny's catalog Tall clothes pages Think the Penny's catalog had two tall clothes pages. She would order for him clothes. Cagles Majic Flame was his company and my wife says on every holiday someone would run out of gas and he would a leave his house and deliver propane. One time when I was visiting Paris on a Saturday he would open up the Majic Flame fence and his son and myself would sit out there and fill small barb-q tanks . He said keep what ever you make We made about $75 dollars each filling tanks for people going out on picnics to the lake. We would be open for about 2 hours and there was a line . I leaned to fill propane tanks real fast Put those heavy gloves on . Its sad Kays mother never got to reap the benefits and see how successful he was She was his secretary and did the books and they struggled in the begining . She died of cancer at the age of 45. My wife and her brothers tried to get him to sell their house because it was now a very poor neighborhood. But he refused. They were worried he would get robbed . But his only clothes were Dickies work outfits and his pick up truck had a propane tank on the back. He looked poorer then anyone in the neighborhood. No one was going to rob him. But no one knew except his family he was a millionaire . Later some guys that he went into Buisness with realized he had money and stole a lot of it. Anyway Arkdelphia Ark and Bud Walton I know well.
