The 13-3 Villanova Wildcats are at the AMP in Providence, Rhode Island to take on the 8-8 Providence Friars. Villanova is -2.5/159.5. Tip is 6:30 pm eastern on FS1.
Providence has beaten St. John’s on the road and should have beaten UCONN but lost in OT. Their last game was a loss at Xavier following the emotional game vs. UCONN. The Wildcats narrowly got out of Milwaukee with a 3 point win over Marquette last out. Having attended a game at Providence, the crowd will be rabid. The Friars will want to play this game in the 80’s while the Cats will want to hold the Friars under 80.
Providence is led by two guards: Jason Edwards, 17.2 ppg, 35.6% from 3 and Jaylen Sellers, 15.4 ppg, 43.1% from 3. Stefan Vaaks is their super freshman averaging 13.8 ppg and 34.7% from 3. Their glass cleaner is Oswin Erhwmwunse, 7.5 ppg, 7.4 boards pg and shoots 74% from 2. Jamier Jones averages 10.9 ppg and only takes high percentage shots as he shoots 68.5%. The Friars go 9 deep and like to run.
On the Nova side, their 3 point shooting has gone cold. They’ll get open looks tonight. Whoever makes the most from beyond the arc will win. The Cats should control the boards and should force some turnovers. It’s all about which players get hot. I wish I knew!
For me, the best bet is Over 159.5.

Just a tidbit on the Iowa State game. Normally we’d expect the Jayhawks to be one of those ranked teams at this time of the season, but they are not. Of course, an upset win here at Kansas over the second-ranked Cyclones would probably be enough to get Bill Self’s team back into the Top 25. But that is a big job against an Iowa State team that is coming to Lawrence with a perfect 16-0 record.
