I am going to be busy all of Friday, but I like this play a lot.
ATLANTA +130 over Arizona 400/520
I feel Atlanta is a strong play here. Schilling is a stud but I love the way Atlanta's lineup has displayed patience. Schilling is a guy who gives up a good number of long balls adn the way the Braves are hitting they should get a few pitches to hit if they work Schilling late into the count. Arizona is really in a funk. They just cannot score any runs right now. Burkett is the type of smart pitcher who will pose problems just as Maddux and Glavine did in the first two games.
The real advantage for the Braves is in the bullpen. Reed, Karsay and Smoltz are pitching like the Nasty Boys right now. If Burkett gives them a lead after 6+ innings, the game is probably over. I dunno what can be said about the Arizona bullpen. Prinz has good stuff and Kim can be a stud at times but otherwise they are incredibly thin. Backing Schilling here is basically asking him to deliver shutout or one run ball for eight innings. Certainly he has done just that in the playoffs so far, but this is a disciplined, defensively sound Braves team with too much pitching depth right now.
