Hi all, now that NHL is over I have been concentrating on MLB. I have been reading the posts in here everyday and love all the info. Lately I have been trying to play mostly totals and it has been going ok, for now. At any rate here are today's plays:

TOR/BAL over 9 (+100)
I think this one has a good chance as both pitchers have not pitched as well lately. Carpenter has a 1.41 WHIP and Roberts has a 1.54, but in the last 3 both have been higher. Last night's game went under but each team had 9 or more hits in that game. Toronto had a few chances to score some runs and did not and tonight I think they get 4 or more.

NYM -155 over Monteal.
I really hate taking the Mets if it is anything over -130. However this is more of a play against Montreal as they are not a good hitting team and are worse against lefties. They are batting .202 vs lefties in their last 10 and have lost their last 4 on the road. I will only take Mets at over -130 if it is Reed or Leiter.

Philly -145 over Pittsburgh
The way PIT has been hitting lately it may not be a good idea to lay 145 on the road. But I think O'daal gets the job done. O'daal leads all Philly starters in run support as he averages getting 7.5 per game. Plus PIT doesn't hit lefties as well as they are batting .220 vs lefty but .182 in their last 10. Arroyo has been getting good run support in his starts(4.9) but I like O'daal here to get a road win.

ARZ/LA under 7.5 (-110)
Park's #'s are very impressive and I think he can hole ARZ to under 2-3 runs. Park has a 1.12 WHIP and Batista has a 1.20 WHIP and oppsing batters are hitting .214 against him. If Park was on the road this probably would not be a play but in LA I like it to be a low scoring game, maybe 4-2.

Additional leans that I am still thinking about playing and any input would be appreciated:

FLA/ATL under 7:
I know Maddux's last game went way over, but looking at the #'s of these two pitchers this one should be very low scoring. Burnett's #'s are great and he has only given up 1 HR in 59IP. Combine the WHIP'S for both pitchers and the total is 2.10. Big worry on this play is the way FLA has been hitting Braves' pitchers lately.

LA -165 over Arizona.
This is just too expensive for me considering how well Batista has pitched lately. But anytime Park is going at home I usually take him.

COL/HOU over 11
At first I liked HOU with Miller going, but someone in here mentioned he has been overused lately and the #'s back it up. HOU hits lefty at .295 but are just .220 in their last 10. Most trends point to an over so I will have to look into this one further.

Good luck to all!

Great writeups. You may have swayed me. I was a bit leery of NYM -155 and the LA/ARZ under. I'm glad somebody else sees some value there.

Good Luck to both of us.

Adding COL/HOU over 11 (-110)

Miller has been giving up more hits lately and hopefully Houston can start hitting Villone as they have been hitting lefties well all year just not recently. This play if for .5 unit and all others are for 1 unit. Passing on FLA/ATL under 7 and LA is just too expensive for me. Good luck to all

I like the Mets a lot also, they are playing some real good baseball, but with that high price (up to -162 at my book) and the Mets playing for the sweep, I am going to have to stay away....I hope they take it though they need a sweep like this to get back in the hunt.....as far as Phili goes, they are just going straight down hill and Pitt seems to be winning some games for a change....thats just my 2 cents, I hope you don't mind.......

Another thing to consider is that Houston has all RHP (that have not been pitching all that well) in the bullpen with the exception of Wagner. Rockies should be able to touch up the Stros bully for a few runs if Miller can't go very deep into the game. I'm laying off of this game because of the Astros cold bats against lefties lately. Would play the over if I had to make a play though. GL

cavs1234,

I don't mind at all and I agree with you. I hate to pick when a team is going to lose once they are on a winning streak. But I like O'daal in this spot and feel he will get the job done. I try not to play big favorites too much, but NYM and PHI I really like today. I thought of the runline but I try to stay away from those unless I really, really feel the team is going to win big. Thanks for the input and hopefully it will be a good nite for all.
