Tonight:

OTT ML (-175) 1.75 Units to win 1 unit

Hurme is in goal and has allowed only three goals in two games against TB. OTT is a respectable 12-12-3 on the road this year, but I am impressed with recent road ties vs. PHI and MTL, and home wins vs. PHI and BOS. OTT avg almost 4 goals per game on the road, and TB is allowing over 3 goals per game in their last 5, while scoring just over 1 per. I question whether or not Khabibulin starts tonight after the big All Star weekend and his stellar performance in the 3rd for the World team. TB is also without Modin and of course St. Louis is out with a broken leg. I like OTT tonight.

PHO +.5 (+130) Risking ? a unit to win .65

PHO has played very well of late on the road albeit vs. suspect competition. VAN has been tearing it up but I am wondering if this weekend layoff hurts them more than helps. They have been on fire offensively and Skudra has been playing well, but I am thinking the layoff may hurt a hot offense and goalie. Plus, even with Skudra?s play lately there is a reason he is not the #1 guy. This is sort of a hunch play, cuz I don?t think VAN is quite as good as the last 10 games or so would suggest. Maybe it is a stupid way to approach it, but I want to be on the other side when they finally lose (or tie again). Hope it is tonight.

Good luck everyone. On the year ?2 units and change. Since January 1, 2002 14-15-3 ?4 Units. It's a marathon not a sprint.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

** Well, the difficult marathon continues. 0-1-1 last night, -1/2 a unit. -2.65 Units on the year, -4.5 since 1/1/02.

I decided I am going to put all of my stuff in one thread for the week just so I have documentation of my plays and reasoning etc, and not take up too much space in the forum.

2-5-02

2-5-02

3 plays today, but I like all of them a lot:

STL ML (-120) 1.2 to win 1
NYI played last night to an OT tie at FLA. They are getting into a habit of letting big leads slip away. STL gets Scott Young back tonight. NYI fast start is the thing keeping them in the middle of the playoff seeding. STL is playing very consistently, which definitely cannot be said for NY.

PIT ML (+120) 1 to win 1.2
PIT looking to avenge a 7-0 defeat maybe? CAR limped though their last 10 games with wins vs. only MIN and TB. PIT has limited time to try to make up ground on the #8 seed. They have played very well the last 2 weeks with the exception of an ugly loss to SJ in the last game before the break in which they were leading 3-2 midway through the 2nd and lost 6-3. CAR is comfortably in the #3 spot leading the woeful SE Division. I am willing to take a shot at PIT as a small dog.

EDM -.5 (-160) 1.6 to win 1
"This stretch is important because we want to use it to reinforce that we're back playing at our top level,'' said MacTavish. "It's important that we follow up the last three games (before the all-star break) with a solid road trip. And I'm confident that our guys are back playing the type of hockey that's conducive to success on the road.''
"We were in a great situation coming into the homestretch and we let it slip a little bit there,'' said Niinimaa. "We let the teams behind us catch up to us a little.'' "We've got one more push before the Olympic break,'' said Rem Murray. "These are huge, the games are big. We want to go into the Olympic break the same way we went into the all-star break, playing well and feeling good about ourselves, because after that it's a sprint.'' EDM is the better team obviously and I believe this type of motivation is key right now for teams in the playoff hunt. A backup goalie is in for EDM, but he has a decent 3-1 record and a 2.14 goals against avg. Big juice I know, but I think it is worth it in this game.

Good luck everyone.

And the nightmare continues...

Thanks for the well wishes, Time to make $$.

0-2-1 tonight -2.8 units, -5.45 on the year and a miserable 14-18-4 for -7.3 units since the New Year. Ouch. What makes this even more painful is the fact that I think I was around +12 units right before Thanksgiving. :violin: What is that Tom Petty song?? Free Falling... Hope someone is making a killing from fading me!

2-7

2-7

Definitely has been tough, Horns.

Played a couple last night with success, but did not post any of them so that constitutes a pass for yesterday.

Might have a couple of fades for today later. LOL :D

Last night 0-1 -1.05 units. But what's new. Very frustrated. At this point posting my plays (and reasoning most of the time) is not doing me or anyone else any good, so I am going to cease and desist for a while and regroup after the Olympics maybe.
-6.5 Units now.

take it easy SJ. this is a hard time to cap as motivation is questionable for alot of players.

a week after olympics finish will be a good time IMO. teams battling for playoff spots and leaders will be focusing on defense in preparation for playoffs. lotsa unders
