These numbers are bad but also are misleading. If a player transfers it counts against you even if you he graduates at another school. If a player died it would count against his school. As for UT, as an example, 1998 was the year Brown was hired, so a number of Mackovic recruits never came to UT or were run off. All of those count against the graduation rate. So if this number is for the 1998 players, which I believe it is, at least for UT it is essentially meaningless. I understand that last year OU's basketball grad rate was published as Zero percent, but there were only 2 guys in the class and both had transferred. So while this is certainly an issue, one cant just take these numbers and extrapolate some big meaning to them.
I understanfd the grad rates are much better with Mack's recruits, but I am a cynic. Anything less than 100% to me is pretty unacceptable for any school. They are all supposed to go to class arent they? Heck, I have a problem with many of these players getting into these schools. Do you guys really believe that Rice's national champion baseball team is full of players who would otherwise get in that school?
