2013-2014 Hippo-Phart Contest

What a glorious time of year. You can smell two things right about now. The sweet smell of football in the air......and the stench of the Hippo-Phart Contest.

For those of you that aren't aware of the H-P Contest.....well, you're missing out. But in a nutshell, each week, you make three selections in the NFL (sides or totals) and the winner takes home cash and prizes.

Entry fee in years past has been $25.

I'm all ears if anyone has ideas on the entry fee price this year. I'm fine with staying at $25 but I'm ok with making the pot more generous if folks want to throw in more as well. I think the three options should be either $25, $40, or $50. Ultimately, the H-P Committee will make the final call on entry fees but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

How do you play it?

Stay tuned. I'll make a more formal post with detailed rules. You basically pick three games each week worth 1 point each (with the option to make one of those three games worth 2 points). You get +1 for a win and -1 for a loss (or +2 for a win and -2 for a loss on the game you double).

At the end of the season....most points wins

Oh....and there is always a prize for last place too

I have been told that you play it like a flute, but I can't say with any degree of certainty.

It's easy PAC. You just post your three favorite football picks and you can pick one of them to be worth two points the other two are worth one. At the end of the year, most points loses...........................well wins, but really loses because everyone just assumes they cheated. It kicks ass.
