2018 Bowl Thread

I'm pretty busy these days and don't know how much I'll be able to participate, but I thought I'd go ahead and get this out even if it's a little early. I assumed, which is a dangerous thing for me, that Alabama and Clemson would be in the final game, so I tacked them on to the end.

All is for games against FBS opponents only.

Scoring Offense (SO) and Scoring Defense (SD) don't include overtime. Rankings for stats were taken from cfbstats.com; rushing rankings used yardage, white passing rankings was based on the rating(s).

I will try and keep up with my son's pool again if I have the time. I don't expect this to happen again, but the top 3 guys in the pool, including my son, went 68.4%, 68.4%, and the winner did 71.1%. Just a very lucky year I imagine.

Let's have a good bowl season guys/gals, I stunk it up in the regular season.

Great stuff Cruncher, one factor I found in looking at totals, take the total points allowed by both defenses, for instance, NT allowed 22 and Utah State gave up 23, which would be 45 points and compare to the opening line number for the total and this will give you an idea of what Vegas thinks the total points could end up being. That game is in NM and traditionally crazy scores in the game in the past!

I had never looked like it that way WB; I'll have to take a closer look, thanks. Yes, that could be a wild one. Utah St has the number 1 offensive efficiency ranking and North Texas is in top 3rd with a ranking of 40, so they both are capable of putting up some points.

Yes, all 3 have consistently been at/near the top for several years now in the pool. I'm hoping they can have another good year, but people usually have a drop after such a good outing.

I haven't played anything yet as I'm waiting on the pool sheet to arrive; as I wanted to match my plays up with the guy that won the pool last year and has won it multiple times. But here's my pool picks, just haven't played anything yet; will be back when and if I do.

Not crazy about anything. Things always look difficult to me. Unless I have a bad run I'm going to try and play every game this year, hopefully that's not wishful thinking.

Probably a little early on this to get a good reading on who will be hot or not, things can change drastically early; however, sometimes the fast starters stay that way. The winner last year, is player #1, he started out hitting 14 out of 16 last year, but has started 3-2 this year; I'll be anxious to see if he comes roaring back. The pool is down from 20 to 16 people for this year. My son also didn't play this year, but I took his place, would have been the same picks either way, I'm player 2. The guy that tied my son for 2nd place last year also isn't playing this year, plus I think the guy that came in 4th isn't either. It could still be a pretty good pool but I'd be shocked if it did as good as last year, talking 3 guys. Some of the lines won't be same as we might get on regular plays; for example Ga Sou was 1.5 favorite in the pool, so it was a winner for the pool. I don't know what got into my head when I said I was going to play every game, but that's obviously a lie, probably delusions of grandeur. Oh well, I'll play something before long.
