It?s now a tourist attraction, but one can?t help but compare this old venue to the ones you will see from as little as ten years ago! It?s astonishing just how bad the dilapidation has become at some of these stadiums.

The abandoned bobsled track from 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo is haunting to say the least. Pictured here in 2014 covered in debris and falling apart, it was once the shining star of the city of Sarajevo, which was part of Yugoslavia but is now the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Today the only people who venture out to the track are mountain bikers and sightseers.

This was once the cutting edge ski-jumping facility from the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo. ski-jumping is one of the most exciting events because it?s so risky. I don?t know what?s more risky? being up on top of that ramp in its current state or being the athlete who once jumped off this ramp.

Sometimes a host city will choose to keep their stadiums and turn them into training centers or tourist attractions. In Berlin, they decided to shutter the doors to the stadium and leave it exactly as it was when it first opened in 1936. This photo was taken 2 years ago.

While baseball is a sport that is most tied into America, Greece built a state of the art complex for the 2004 games that would host Baseball and softball games. Today all it hosts are the whispers of wind blowing through the dead weeds that have overtaken the once lush field.

Maybe China is not big on beach volleyball, but more likely their enormous recession was part of the reason that the Olympic buildings from 2008 have been abandoned and closed off to the public.

I think If I were in a city where the Olympics was coming, I would have to ask why on earth do we need an artificial Kayaking stadium built? It seems that every country that has hosted and built one has it sitting empty and abandoned. Crazy stuff.

The 6,566 seat stadium was built in 1963 and the venue was used for boat races, concerts and even boxing events but it?s usefulness ended when Hurricane Andrew blew in. After the super Hurricane destroyed much of Florida in 1992, the structure was deemed unsafe and abandoned. It has sat empty for the past 25 years.
