I know that parlays can often be suicidal, but I feel pretty confident that at least 2 of these 3 will come through if not all of them. I will play them all straight, and then link them up in a Round Robin and see what happens.....
Here ya go:
1st Play: Georgia -3
I think getting Shockley back makes all the difference in the UGA offense. Their #2 was decent in the loss to Florida, but still Shockley bring a different level of unpredictability under center. Couple that with the fact that it's a home game for the Dawgs...AND under the lights....WITH a week to prepare...AND with revenge...AND not treading over a key number with the line---I think UGA is solid:
From the "Worldwide Leader"....
"Right now, we think he'll be 100 percent," coach Mark Richt said. "(Monday) was the first time we let him do everything, and he had no setbacks. I watched him close, and I saw no signs of him limping around or gimping around."
The Bulldogs certainly feel better with Shockley back on the field. No offense to backup quarterback Joe Tereshinski, but it's clear that Shockley is a much more dangerous weapon.
He leads the SEC and ranks 11th nationally in passing efficiency, throwing 12 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He also is a threat to run, ranking third on the team with 215 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
"Having him on the field is going to be an advantage for us," running back Thomas Brown said. "He brings a different element to the offense. He can scramble and run around a little bit, which gives the receivers extra time to get open."
Plus, Shockley is one of the most respected leaders on the team, a player who earned the loyalty of his peers by deciding to stay at Georgia even though it meant spending three seasons on the bench behind David Greene.
"He looks like the same ol' Shock to me," receiver Bryan McClendon said. "I know a lot of guys, including myself, who have come back from injuries and try to win the Heisman on every play. But he just picked up where he left off."
2nd Play: LSU -3
True, Bama comes into this one undefeated. They have been less than impressive if many of their games, but still they have found a way to get the job done. I just don't think they have enough firepower (especially offensively) to match up with LSU. The injury to Prothro has been killer for the Tide....but the defense has certainly lived up to their end of the bargain.
Again...from the Worldwide Leader:
Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom isn't impressed by his alma mater's class -- or its talent.
Croom, whose Bulldogs were beaten 17-0 by No. 4 Alabama last weekend, spoke to the Huntsville Quarterback Club Monday night.
The former Crimson Tide All-American was asked what about unbeaten Alabama impressed him the least.
"I didn't think they played with as much class as Alabama teams usually do," Croom said. "All that bumping and some of the other little things they did between plays ? I wasn't impressed with that at all.
"They've got good schemes and they're well-coached and they play hard. But some of those little things may catch up with them at some point."
He did praise Alabama for "knowing how to win."
"We've played three or four teams that are better from a talent standpoint, but they know how to get it done."
---
Arguably, LSU is one of the most talented, athletic teams in the country, and I just think it will be too much for the Tide to overcome. If it weren't for a 2nd half meltdown against UT, LSU would be in the same undefeated boat as the Tide... Also--LSU comes off of 2 games against Cupcake St., so they should be healthy, fairly rested, and ready to fire up against Bama.
3rd Play: Wisconsin -3
Honestly, this line surprises me. I think it may be a bit of an over-reaction to Bucky getting his doors blown off by JoePa. Wiscy still has one of the conference's best backs and running games, and is only laying 3 at home? I know Iowa has a ridiculous record in November under Ferentz... Still--I think it will be extremely difficult for the Hawks to head back on the highway after the colossal meltdown at Northwestern last week. How do they get up for this game? Iowa has been shaky at best on the road, getting blasted by Iowa St., OSU, and the nail biter at NW. They did beat Purdue, but that was during the Boilers' freefall... On top of it all, this is Wisconsin's final home game of the year....and consequently, Alvarez' final game on the sidelines. Camp Randall is going to be a mad house, trying to send Barry off properly.. Frankly, I see this one getting ugly. All of the planets are aligning right for Bucky to lay a beatdown on Iowa.
3 ballgames...laying 3 points in each. Comments are welcome!
Good luck.....
