Some other highlights:

In 11 states, welfare pays more than
the average pre-tax first year wage for a
teacher.

In fact, in 13 states, welfare pays more
than $15 per hour.

Mind boggling, great read, thanks for posting.

Of course you realize that you are quoting a redressed report of a study that was done by the Cato institute in 1995, I believe it is. You can see this on page 25, I believe where the actual study is cited. They didn't redo the study or anything like that. They just wrote about it as if it was present tense.

Yea, this is called propaganda. I don't think anyone should be rushing to quit their jobs and run to the, as many bigoted conservatives like to refer to it as, the "entitlement" line. Not really sure how a greatly reduced corporate tax rate available to less than 2% of those in the private sector is called a "break" and something that we all pay into and are all eligible for is called an "entitlement", but I don't understand a lot of things.

Not trying to seed your cloud YYZ. This crap, as well as the thrill kill of the Aussie baseball player not being condemned by POTUS is making the rounds on all the conservative websites. It's just a desperate attempt by a horribly flawed organization to sling mud. Don't believe everything you read brother.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Um, wrong. They used the same methodology of the original paper but used benchmarks in almost every table from 2012-2013.

I'd be curious to see your daily interaction with this population. How much do you interact with people on government assistance?

One-third of my practice is medicaid. If you had the experiences I did on a daily basis you'd probably feel differently. There's only so many parents who walk in and can't pay their 5$ copay yet their 5 year old has on 130$ Air Jordan's and they are driving a Lexus. And no, this isn't a generalization. I see this all day, every work day.

Read it again Saint, read it again. The study was NOT redone and the numbers were and are projected from National Labor statistics and from the CBO. Feel free to look at and read the entire paper. Not going to argue with you as I really don't give a crap. It doesn't adversely affect myself, or you for that matter. You're just bitching about it because you saw it on a conservative website, and because it's on the internet, it must be true. Much like the other Republican meme concerning the thrill kill of the Aussie baseball player you posted, it's a ridiculously inane topic. The article is all about a weak attempt to sling mud at the present administration for failures of a system that he has little to no control over. That's fine, keep at it. I know better so you aren't wasting my time, just yours.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Move your practice then. I suppose people on welfare shouldn't have cars or cell phones right? As far as the Lexus goes, I don't believe you. I am quite sure you are exaggerating. You don't see it everyday and it is very much a generalization. This goes directly to my point, just because you keep saying it with more and more conviction doesn't make it true. Sorry.

Also, you realize that benchmarks are considered the best of a business model or process, right?

You also realize that I am looking at the paper you are referencing and it isn't even close to half of the tables used being from 2012-2013. Carry on

in short order,it will all become moot....

the technology is there.... if robots make our cars, they can flip burgers and handle gas station transactions...

i-pads... touch screen kiosks to place your orders. .we see it already in supermarkets.....and as a bonus, they would dodge the whole nasty healthcare issue....

You're wrong on this one bud.

First off, I never said I had an issue with my practice location. It's actually in an upscale part of town. Obviously there are people on assistance in all parts of town. I enjoy the kids and there is a lot of need.

Unfortunately I'm not exaggerating. This is my day to day. I have no horse in the race and if anything one could argue I'd be in favor for more govt assistance because it would mean higher medicaid reimbursement for my procedures.

So, on one side we have myself who sees 15 kids a day on state assistance. Or, you on the other side, with nothing but opinions. I'm simply relaying my day to day experience. It's got nothing to do with conviction or opinion.

There is a need to give assistance to those who need it. The program is very, very broken.

Again, I don't really give a shit. But I could post pictures daily of kids 5 and under in 100$ shoes. I don't give a shit enough to do so and I'm busy running a business. But I see it, Every. single. day.

The whole point of the paper, as stated, was to compare current levels to those of the original paper. I'm not sure how one is supposed to do so without using the previous data to correlate.

At the end of the day, you're right FDC, you are sitting there in front of the glow of your computer screen reading an article.

I have years of experience working with this population. Come back to the table when you have something that means something to the thread.

You see 15 kids a day on Welfare? They all, every single one of those fifteen, wear the same exact shoes and pay the exact same $130.00 price tag? Every single one drives a Lexus? Now you also seem to know what my interaction is with people on welfare when two posts ago you said you were curious as to what my interaction with them would actually be? Did you look into a big red conservative crystal pile of bullshit to learn all this about me in two posts, or are you just maybe exaggerating a bit like I said all along?
So, since you aren't getting your $5 copay, the system is broken? Little Tyrone is wearing nice shoes and doesn't have flies eating his eyelids, this is bullshit, right?

Saint,
For fucks sake the thread is about the paper!!!!! How the hell is it that because I point out inaccuracies in your statements, that you are the only person that has any dealings with impoverished people that need help. Dude, come on.
