Are you serious? Down 21-3 to the Pats, a team that never beats themselves, the COLTS rally for the biggest comeback in championship game history! :scared and I was there!!!
What an amazing day! As a sports fan, this is the greatest thing I have witnessed or been a part of. I have ridden the COLTS roller coaster since 1986 and have endured many moments of pain, and I will admit I thought this was another. I love this team....I love the guys on this team, I love the coaches, I love the franchise. I love what they have done for and with the city, and the way they play the game.
This isn't a hater thread, although I'm sure the morons will come piling in. Manning this and Dungy that. Blow me....that is the one and only response you will get from me in this thread. This is a thread for sports fans, which a lot of guys on here are. It's not about -3.5, +3.5, or over/under 47. It's about my experience yesterday, in one of the best football games ever played. Love it or leave it, here's how it went...
I did it the right way, I spent this day with my family. I went to the game (my only one this year) with my Brother In Law, Niece, and Nephew. We made it a family affair, the way it should be. We met my Sister and a few other people downtown about 3:00, they were already down there for the Cheer Nationals that were being held, no less than 10,000 cheerleaders and their families (40,000 total) were in town all weekend. Indianapolis was one happening place, that for should. We ate, we drank, we tailgated at a friends motor home and watched DA BEARS destroy the AINTS. We screamed and yelled with people we don't even know, and the whole city was getting revved up. Everything around was BLUE. Normally the city does what they call a white out, everyone wears their white jerseys, but the media had gotten the word out.....since the Pats brought 4 inches of snow with them (our first of the year), we were to go BLUE
, and BLUE we went!! I have never seen anything like it...entire buildings were painted, lights, streets, people, everything....the Indiana state museum had a giant projector playing highlights on the side of it (very cool). Every horn in town was honking...the game was on. You see this city was desperate for a winner....and a chance at the big game. Some of you can't comprehend that, but believe me it made it that much sweeter in the end. Something else well worth mentioning, was the "spirit" of it all. There were Pats fans, and LOTS of them. But they partied with us too. We talked trash, no doubt, but without exception every one of us shook hands and wished each other luck. I have seen some extremely ugly situations at hame and away games, and it was great to see such respect being shown.
We went in about 5:00, and enjoyed the pre game festivities. I spent about $4,338 on Coors Light, and we watched the players warm up. There was a great exchange between Vinattieri and the Pats kicker, they took turns kicking field goals at the same goal. Adam was drilling them (crowd goes nuts), and Gustkowski was missing (crowd goes nuts). There were no less than 40,000 fans in the dome by 5:30 (6:30 kick). The 2 kickers were yucking it up, and I kid you not Adam drilled 2 -62- yarders that had easily 5 yards of leg to spare. That guy is unreal!!!
Once the game started it was no holds barred. I can promise you, every person that went to that game, when they woke up this morning felt like they played. It was about the craziest 4 hour emotion swing I have ever been on. I woke up this morning sore, and dehydrated (did I score a TD?). It was 90 degrees in that Dome! If there has ever been a louder place, I don't believe it. My ears rang for 6 hours. I watched the entire game on DVR today, and in no way, shape, or form did TV come anywhere near showing the atmosphere. The old saying "I guess you had to be there" apllies.
As far as the game, I'm not going into X's and O's. Manning played as tough as I have seen him play, EVER. The Pats flat out beat him up. He had to be knocked down no less than 30 times, and almost every time a 300 lb lineman fell on him. When he hit his thumb, he came over and told Sorgi to be ready...but a trainer came over and gave him 2 pills which Peyton reluctantly took, then zipped right back onto the field. Bayer aspirin I'm sure:SIB . We sure thought the fix was in, but via replay today, I think the refs did a great job. The boys also got away with a big pass interference no call towards the end of the game, that may have buried us.
Pats #87 sure had 2 big drops (TY!!), and Tom Brady is a fckin stud. I have never seen him play in person, and that guy is the nuts. No one could breathe when Brady Bunch got it back with 1:00 on the clock. But the I.N.T by Marlin Jckson sealed the deal....and the COLTS are goin to the SUPER BOWL BABYYYYYYYYYYYY.
A few pictures to follow.
