I am on a bit of a downswing so I am lowering my standard bet to $350 for the time being.
Detroit +100 over BALTIMORE 350/350
Weaver has thrown a lot of pitches his last couple of times out but he has a rubber arm. Hentgen really started hot but he has struggled in his last two starts and should go less than seven. The Detroit bullpen has been rocked the last two games but Nitkowski, Anderson and Jones have not been part of that so I expect them to pitch tonight if needed. Detroit has the stronger lineup as well so every advantage I see here is with the Tigers.
PITTSBURGH +130 over St. Louis 350/455
Kile has really been great this year but for some reason he is having a hard time on the road. He isn't going seven and he is giving up over three runs, and those are not quality starts. Schmidt is a solid pitcher and though he won't go 8 or 9 in only his second start, Mulholland and Williams are rested so I see the Bucs' 'pen picking up some slack. Obviously St. Louis has the stronger lineup but I see the pitching and home field advantages with Pittsburgh.
OAKLAND +110 over Yankees 350/385
Zito has struggled but as a lefty he gives the Yanks fits. New York has played two straight extra inning games and with Stanton and Mendoza both throwing over 40 pitches after Rivera's meltdown on Sunday, their bullpen is suspect today. I think the Yankees have the slightly stronger lineup but with the bullpen advantage and Zito going, the A's have the advantage here.
