Freakin' Jays. Got exactly what I expected from Doc...maybe even better. Jays offense has tanked. I am totally bailing on them presently--with my wallet, at least--until they show me something with the sticks. Still hope they win, but mang!--what a pathetic downturn...reminds me of a certain Marlins team.
Actually did considerably better than advertised, due to some smaller unmentionables, some 1st 5's, not to mention a decent play on the Hirschbeck game under, at Comerica. Look for him in the future; not many umps seriously affect game totals but Johnny has been, and always will be, my man for the unders.

To business...

Nationals +115 1/1.15
--lefty Detwiler looked decent in his debut and the O's OPS vs lefties is close to 150 points lower vs lefties. Not to mention their DH loss in this matchup. Nats OPS vs R is 160 points higher than O's vs L. Serious concern with the Nats pen, but the O's pen, again, is nothing to write home about. ump Tim Welke has a grand K-zone and should make the rookie 1st-rounder feel right at home, especially as he had no walks--vs 6 K's--in his debut.

Twins -107 2/1.87
--I've noticed that MLdebuts have been pretty grim this season--the most recent being Braves potential Medlen. Still, Swarzak holds considerable promise and it is hard to fade a Twinkie offense that has scored more than 30 runs over their past 2 games. Former 1st-rounder Looper has always been overrated, IMO. Brewers much prefer home-field, regardless of the DH inclusion. Twins lifetime record vs NL teams is around .666+/-. This play looks sweeter than honey.

d'backs -140 1/0.71
--Haren hasn't been "immaculate" over his last 2 starts (3 ernies each time), but his OBA under .200 and whip under 1 indicate just how well he has pitched. D'Backs with a .704 OPS vs R, and get the DH here...A's with a .702 OPS vs R, and get a disguntled former teammate here. Gonzalez has never impressed, in his limited and hopeless career. D'Backs putrid offense keeps this play unpoundable. Haren is the real deal, despite my questioning the same 3 or 4 years ago. Under temptations but I do not respect Edgar and ump Scott is even, at best, for such aspirations.

Was going to post some leans, as well, but that seems irrelevant and I am about to watch a John Ralston Saul lecture on TVO Ontario's Big Ideas program...something entitled "The Turth About Canada." Need to check it out; all of the alternative stuff I can get talks about you southerners.
We need a democracynow.org (check it out) in Canada. Would start one myself if it wasn't for all these sporting distractions...perhaps.

Hoping to crash immanently...just some final words.
BTW, thanks for the words.

tex -115
--Feldman is B-grade, at best, but Rangers are looking decent this season and 'stros are best played against lefties. Moehler is slightly better than Eaton, on the hill, and we know what happened to him.

col@Det un11 -145
--Wally Bell (ump) follows Hirshcbeck in the rotation, and Marquis has looked for the most part. Galarraga has screwed me the last couple of goes so I can't back him (-140); rox can occassiolly hit but are extremely unpredictable this year. I got a taste of this one.

mets +168
--Pelfrey looking decent, though not dominant. 'Sox are a pain in my emotional ass, and I hope that they lose constantly, though I have been forced to back them recently. Beckett should see whatever shrink that Greinke saw, as he clearly needs help...been "reasonably," lately, but I think the Mets can compete here. Sweet price. Call me chicken...no play.

Reds +104 and un11 -112
--top prospects Bailey and Duff hook up for what looks to be a slugfest, but Injuns aren't hitting and the road and prefer lefties, so far in '09. Bailey HAS to be motivated for this mofo...his career depends on any given opporunties. Lefty Duff could be shit but Reds are not potent against L (.668 OPS) and are still missing key bat Votto. Ump Drake is a slight under-lean and this total is too high. Reds too much of a gamble but a small play, here, on the under.

Ump G.Davis, for Jays@Braves, is an over-ump, which quells my choice for the under (cough-choke...Jays with 5 runs over the past 4 games!). Janssen, as well, doesn't turn me on.

Also considered laa@Lad over the 8. Ump Meriwether is even. Angels prefer lefties. Lackey has been garbage, but we all know his potential. Wolf has been great but has overachieved this season. Will run and hide from this temptation.
