The only plays I made today were two big underdogs, Texas and Baltimore.

There were several underdogs that were close to being plays. I felt that Kansas City, Philly, Minnesota, Anaheim and Colorado all were worth a look. Here are reasons for each:

KC: Davis comes off basically the best outing of his career but it was vs. the soft hitting, impatient Tigers. Even without Sweeney the Royals should get to him. Plus, it is tough to go from home to away or away to home and maintain a level like that.

PHI: Basically a fade of Ortiz figuring the Atlanta hitters are too good to be baffled by him a third straight time.

MIN: Tough to go against Loaize but the Royals are facing the poor Indians and so the Twins know they need 2 of 3 here. Beating an All Star in the first game of the series is a good way to ensure that.

ANA: Beating Brown showed the Angels' potential. No, I don't think it's their year to make a run, but I think this game is a good spot for them.

COL: Better team getting money. Actually, they are not only getting money, but they have a lefty going against a lineup that hits lefties poorly. Hard to imagine Lawrence struggling like he did last outing because he is just too talented, so I expect a 3-2 type game if the Rockies win, which I think they will.

OTHER NOTES FOR TODAY:

-Of the high chalk plays the Cubs look like a very sure thing. Tough to find a good bet at that price, but still. One caveat is that Quevedo has had road success at Wrigley before.

-Weaver will beat Tampa tonight. I am not a fave player so I won't bet it, but he will win and have a great outing.

-Interesting scenario in STL. Reds have been a great moneymaker in part because their rotation is no-names so you can fade big names for big money and win. Today they face Tomko, who stinks, but they are still a good sized dog. Why? Something fishy going on here. As a dog player, I say stay away.

-If I'm a chalk player, I bet Cards, Yanks and Cubs and then shut off my computer for a few hours to watch my money be made. Lots and lots of chalk there but I really think 3-0 is a strong possibility there.

Glad you cashed those two. Like a fool I tried a flyer on the Cards which kind of put a damper on my night. I will be back tomorrow with something good, though.
