I went with just the A's today.

One little angle that I have played since around the middle of last season that I have had success is looking at teams that either A) had late rallies fall short the previous day or B) lost to a late rally the previous day. Both Baltimore (A) and Texas (B) fit in those categories yesterday and they turned out to be two winners. It should be noted that this angle only is effective after the first game of a series.

I went through today's games looking for similar situations in part because I wanted to spend a bit less time handicapping so I figured I'd only look at the games that fit this angle and then decide from there.

-Pittsburgh was a possibility but I liked the over better. I probably should have played it but the book where I was funded only offered +100 and I wanted a better line. Plus, playing day games has always been a slippery slope for me because I get too action crazy.

-St. Louis was ruled out because nobody knows what the hell is wrong with Matt Morris. I simply don't have the onions to play the Cards at that kind of price when he is pitching like this.

-Toronto is darned tempting because Lidle is going to get hit today. The problem is that Ponson appears to be set up for a beating as well. Why not play the over, you say? Well, Toronto has not scored in bunches over their last 4 games with the exception of the 13 run outburst two days ago. Over is still probably a great bet, but I am going to pass on it.

-Tampa is just a hard team to play vs. New York. A huge talent gap and their bullpen is really worn. Can't pull the trigger.

-I don't trust Joe Mays as far as I can throw him, otherwise the Twins might be a play. Nothing to indicate any real reason to play against Garland, either.

-The Dodgers are tempting. I mean unbelievably tempting. Problem is that Nomo game up too many hits for my taste last time out so I don't want to rely on him in what is likely to be a low scoring game.

If I were feeling froggier today, I would perhaps jump on LA and the Toronto over. I just looked at my scoreboard and the Pirates over came through so maybe my eye for overs is keen today. Take a look at those two along with the A's today.
