the 21st was proposed to the several states on feb 20, 1933.

declared a proclamation by the Sec. of State on Dec. 5, 1933. 36 of 48 states ratified.

Ratification was complete on Dec. 5, 1933.


The amendment was subsequently ratifed by Maine on Dec. 6 1933 and by Montana on Aug. 6, 1934

South Carolina rejected it on Dec. 4, 1933 and not subsequently ratified.
