It goes without saying that there are other things more important than baseball today. That said, it is time to get back to work.

PHILADELPHIA +130 over Atlanta 500/650

Both Person and Maddux are pitching well. With both bullpens rested, I like Philly there because Mesa is the stronger closer. Philly has the stronger lineup as well. Bowa should have his team ready as he is a very intense guy.

Milwaukee +155 over ST. LOUIS 500/775

This is basically a play on superior pitching. Quevedo is a true ace while Smith will probably go less than 6 innings. Milwaukee has a far more consistent bullpen as well.

NICK, I admire your capping skills, and consider you a true "value" finder. However, QUEVEDO a true ace???

I'm sorry, the guy has been pretty lights out since coming over from the CUBS, but in no way does he qualify for ACE status in my book. I'm not saying the BREW CREW may not have some value in this matchup, but I think ACE is stretching it... imho.

Randy,

Sorry it took me a while to reply. I look at Quevedo's stuff, his pitch selection and his composure and I honestly think the guy is a true ace. If he keeps his weight in check (perhaps a big "if"), I see <3.50 era and 15+ wins consistently from this guy. I like his stuff better than Sheets, Wright, D'Amico or Neugebauer (the other four likely starters in 2002). Good luck, btw. Haven't talked with ya in a while and I hope everything is well for you.
