Making Thursday nights great again with two classic MAC matchups. I will probably need to be well lubricated to sit and watch either, not exactly prime time material here.
Ball State Team Total First Half U 7' (-115) one unit
Cards have not found the end zone in over a month. Think about that one, almost unheard of and seemingly impossible. Toledo's D is no great shakes but their offense will dominate. QB Logan Woodside is a legit NFL prospect. This one gets ugly fast and stays that way.
The better matchup is at NIU where EMU travels to. Toss their record out, EMU has been in all their games and should have beaten W Mich last week had not a fine young student athlete had a minor mental lapse. As their receiver was completing a go ahead 80+ yards TD reception in the 4th quarter, the fine young student athlete in question( #15) decided to block a guy in the back who was ten yards behind the ball and had zero chance of making a play. This happened down around the 15 yard line. Their receiver was literally a few strides from paydirt. Eagles then miss a FG in OT and my little ML play goes down in flames.
I've decided to give this fellow special recognition here in my thread. He's earned a special place in my heart.
Ladies and gentlemen, #15 Dieuly Aristilde Jr.
Anyways, I see all these close losses taking a toll and after doing nicely with EMU this season, I am jumping ship tonight. No more E Mich for me here. NIU is really good against the run allowing an outstanding 2.7 YPR and they get after the QB too. I do not see E Mich being able to sustain many drives and possibly quite a few 3 and outs. The NIU offense may not fare a whole lot better as these are the top two statistical defensive units in the MAC. Northern does have the better ground game and the better D though. I'll lay the points tonight and Eastern should make just enough mistakes to get this play home.
NIU -7 (-105) 2 units
E Mich / NIU under 48 (-112) 1 unit
Maybe a halftime play later if the lubrication is working.....:0074
