I especially like the ending......

I especially like the ending......

Just for perspective, can you compare the size of this fiscal "tsunami" [to the size of particular spending programs]?
Well, you could decide not to renew the Bush tax cuts, you could eliminate all foreign aid, eliminate all earmarks, eliminate NASA, eliminate the National Endowment for Humanities and eliminate the entire Defense Department tomorrow, and you still wouldn't solve the problem.

Seems like a credible interview. Fantastic link. Harrowing. Enlightening. Sobering.

Pretty much decides my plans after basketball tonite.......some good, stiff drinks, then start over tomorrow.

That's a great article, Buddy. Thanks for posting it. This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about - getting past the rhetoric, absolutes and political posturing and finally realizing we are all in this together - or should be. It's something like this that could galvanize a third party...take two or three main big issues, like economic issues, health care and sensible defense spending, and run on a down the middle, hard look platform that gives and takes, and speaks to everyone equally.

It will probably take somebody rich, and somebody charismatic, together, to pull that off successfully someday. And an economic tsunami certainly could spur that on.
