Of course this is all hypothetical, and I am putting forth this discussion as if the allegations prove to be true. Libby has not been proven guilty, and may not be. But, he has been charged, so there is a possibility that he will be. So, I'll put forth a scenario.

Let's just say that Mr. Fitzgerald is able to pursue the reasons why Mr. Libby (may have) lied, committed perjury and obstructed justice. In the course of the trial or ongoing investigations, he decides to cut a deal, or other people called forth bring forth information proving falsification in our justification for going to war. The ramifications of this for the United States could be so damaging, I cannot imagine where we would sit moving forward.

Seriously, what would other countries think of us? Would they just accept the fact that a handful of people conspired to commit these acts for reasons we can only at this time guess about, and support us moving on? How about Tony Blair and Britain? He went through some really tough times standing up for Bush, and our most valued ally would look ridiculous, foolish, or an accomplice. How about the other countries that supported us. There weren't many that supported us to any large degree, with a full presence, but they did land more on our side - depending on how you spin it.

And the war on terror? Would you feel safer after this? Or would we be a far larger target for anyone not sharing our value system - whatever the heck that would be after our leadership made a mockery of it.

You don't have to entertain any of this if you don't want to. But it concerns me greatly. You can dismiss it, and nothing has been proven yet in a court of law. I am certainly not rooting for this to be the way it plays out, just to have my personal opinions about these people proven right. It would be incredibly bad for our country, and most likely it won't happen.

But, what if it did happen?
