advises wife of family I am close with to separate from husband over differences that every single couple has. They have 4 and 6 yo children.

I was raised a Catholic, but did not pursue once I was able to think for myself, so am not religious at all. I respect other's beliefs, so try not to talk about my thoughts on the subject.

Maybe one of you can explain to me how an f'ing priest, who has not one clue about relationships with women, not to mention is the one who read the "in good times and bad" spiel at their wedding, would have the nerve to recommend a split? Seriously, wtf???

Was thinking the same. This guy should be trying to save the marriage.

Especially because there is no infidelity, spousal abuse, etc.. Just simple differences. Hell, my wife doesn't drink more than a beer per sitting, if that, while I run around like a frat boy when the kids aren't around. If a priest told her that was grounds for separation, I would consider kicking his ass.

It may be just what they're telling people

Seems now that she heard what she wanted to from the priest.

She tells me a lil while ago that the priest reassured her that kids are resilient and would be fine long term. He supposedly told her that staying in it for the kids is not good for the kids because kids are better off being from a broken home than they are living in a broken home.

Then she has added that the priest recommended she and hub meet with the archdiocese family counselor.

My guess is priest tried to comfort her and then recommended counseling. Admittedly, i feel bad for trashing the priest prematurely.
