Short numbers on opening day gives us a few good opportunities imo.
Clemson -1.5 The Tigers and Hurricanes are heading in opposite directions. Miami blew a last gasp at the big dance losing to FSU at home. Diaz is one of the most exciting players in the country but he doens't have the supporting cast. Both teams are quick in the back court but give Clem an edge inside and a giant chip after getting destroyed in Fla. If Hite and Diaz both get hot this could be another route, but the Tigers got on a roll in last years ACC's and could do it this year too.
FSU -4.5 The books are still treating this club like the FSU teams of old and still treating Wake the same. Last time I checked, the Deacs still didn't have a point guard and won't be able to stop one of the most improved players in the league in Thornton. Erik Williams has shown signs of his old self, but he still doesn't move his feet and has no mid range jumper.
battle of Virginia.. coin flip
G. Tech +2.5
Who have the terps lost to?? Zags, GW, Duke X2, UNC, @ Temple, FSU... Some pretty good clubs. Yes they also lost to Miami and Clem, but having to adjust without their best player has taken time. They looked terrible at UNC and disinterested. A win at Virginia in which they nearly blew a 17 pt. lead isn't enough for me to take a team that seemed to quit on their season 2 months ago. I'll roll the dice and the up and coming Tech team that plays hard and has nothing to lose.
