This is a tough game to call...gtech is a pretty good team, not as good w/out elder. The only real tough matchups they've had have been on the road and both were losses. The line screams take gtech...which is why I'm going to take Carolina. Until I see it I will take that line because when we dictate tempo, opposing teams are too tired in the 2nd half and we blow things out. This isn't the strongest play IMO because it can go either way, but i do like the 1st h total. Like I said it will be tough for GT to dictate tempo in our house...i expect a 1st half total similar to when wake played at gonzaga...upper 80s i think around that or so. Our players got into it a bit w/ jarrett jack last year who is the biggest punk in the ACC and i hope we hand it to his ass today. Revenge from knocking us out of the acc tourney year as well. Record ytd is 15-7 i believe and around +900 but will update later.

Plays:

Carolina -11 -108 WIN
Carolina 1H O 81 -108 LOSS

Nice write-up, I agree. I think the Heels can out run this team and if GT tries to run with them UNC has the bench to keep up that tempo all night. Make 7'0 big Luke get tired! Losing Elder hurts GT not on offense as much as it does on defense. He is the only (IMO) player GT has that can shadow McCants. Should be a good game. Good luck tonight

Cheers

Same thing with the over on this one, the pace was on but Gtech came out laying bricks and it was very very choppy. Heels continue to roll, but I am not overly optimistic...i am eagerly awaiting to see how we perform on the road in a hostile environment. Fortunately, we'll get the chance on Saturday at wake forest. I guess if I had to guess now, the line will be carolina -4ish in that area. I'm hoping it will get low because i will play the heels hard if it is in that neck of the woods.

of our 28 field goals tonight, 24 were assisted. also, our bench outscored gtechs 17-0 in the 1st half. This team is looking like a force, because of the work they are getting in the defensive end of the court. Unselfish, deep, strong bench play, the ingredients are there.

At first I was gonna say there isn't really a dookie i cant' stand this year, but then I remember there is....reddick. Hey, I'll give the kid credit, WHEN he comes off a screen and gets the ball with his feet set and squared up, he can nail them. BUT....he absolutely cannot create his own shot. Plain and simple, deny him that screen pass and he will not hit the shots when he's got to dribble and pull up. Have a feeling state will take your boys down tomorrow.

jmo, but there is no way carolina will be, nor should they, be favored against wake forest. wont happen.

wake probably lays 2 or 3 points.

Hope you're right, they should be favored at their own place that is a tough place to play....looking forward to seeing the early line. Just know books tack on a few points cause we're such a public square team.

well, you said carolina -4.
i said wake -2.

it opens dead in the middle.

north carolina -1.

and frankly, thats a great line by the oddsmakers. doesnt overvalue one side of the other.

Gman you beat me to it, I was just on my way to find this thread.

Yeah I know I saw it, i do believe they hit the line on the head. I do think Carolina will win this game, and honestly that is my honest take with as little homer in me as I can get. I know we haven't faced a road team with wake's ability and their homecourt is not an easy place to play. They are extremely pumped about this game. I've got to go with the hotter team, and the thing that pushes it over the edge is our defensive play lately. There was a great article on sports illustrated's site about the rarity of our possessions per game being high coupled with efficiency per possession. We dismanted gtechs strong d (albeit minus bj elder) but I think this is a game carolina wins.

The question now is....which way is this line going to move. I've got to think it will move with the heels laying more points, maybe 3 by tip. What is your feeling?
