There is a guy who writes about computers and things associated with them in the business section of the local paper. Last week, he wrote a small piece on Spyware and the different programs used to get rid of it. He said Spybot is the best free one, but the best one out there that he has used is called SpyHunter. He ran Spybot first and it found 3 pieces of spyware. He then ran the trial version of Spyhunter and it found an additional 19 pieces.
I thought I would do my own test and this is what happened. I use Adaware and ran it, and it found 18 pieces of spyware. I then downloaded the free version of SpyHunter that will tell you how many parasites it has found, but won't remove it until you purchase the software, and it found 146 parasites which most were rated as "Severe". I decided to spend the $30 for the permanent version, and it found 159 when I ran the complete scan for the first time.
I have seen a noticeable difference in the speed of my computer and when I open up IE, there isn't all of that noise from the hard drive that there used to be. If you want to give it a try, here is the website to download the free version that will tell you how many parasites you have hidden in your computer. It does take a lot longer to run the scan than Adaware, but it seems to do a more thorough job.
