hockeyinformer friday am report:
Miikka Kiprusoff, Calgary Flames - Kiprusoff is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Blue Jackets, reports the Calgary Sun. Coach Darryl Sutter also said that after this weekend, he will likely go back to primarily a one-goalie system which means that Kiprusoff will see a lot of action.
Steve Passmore, Chicago Blackhawks - Passmore is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Red Wings, reports the Chicago Tribune.
David Aebischer, Colorado Avalanche - Aebischer is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Mighty Ducks, reports the Denver Post. Coach Tony Granato said that Phil Sauve will likely get the call Saturday against the Kings.
Curtis Joseph, Detroit Red Wings - Joseph is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Blackhawks, reports the Detroit Free Press. Coach Dave Lewis also announced that Manny Legace would start Saturday against the Predators.
Roberto Luongo, Florida Panthers - Luongo is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Stars, reports the Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Corey Schwab, New Jersey Devils - Schwab is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Sabres, reports the Bergen Record. Meanwhile, the Newark Star-Ledger reports that neither coach Pat Burns nor Schwab himself has revealed the starter for tonight's game but since the Devils will play their third game in four nights, it seems likely that Martin Brodeur will be rested.
Trevor Kidd, Toronto Maple Leafs - Kidd is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Capitals, reports the Toronto Sun and the Washington Post. Ed Belfour would then play on Saturday against the Canadiens.
Olaf Kolzig, Washington Capitals - Kolzig is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Maple Leafs, reports the Washington Post. He has been bothered by a sore groin as of late but practiced without incident yesterday.
Martin Gerber, Anaheim Mighty Ducks - Gerber is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Avalanche. The LA Times had a story up about how Jean-Sebastien Giguere is waiting for his next turn, but they didn't have any concrete information on who would be starting tonight.
Martin Biron, Buffalo Sabres - Biron is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Devils. This one seems likely as coach Lindy Ruff was not only unhappy with Mika Noronen's play on Wednesday but he was planning on starting Biron before deciding against it due to his poor record against the Penguins.
Marc Denis, Columbus Blue Jackets - Denis is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Flames.
Marty Turco, Dallas Stars - Turco is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Panthers. Backup Ron Tugnutt is injured, so Turco will likely start again on Saturday against the Lightning as well.
Dominik Hasek, Detroit Red Wings - Hasek participated in a full practice on Thursday but was somewhat limited in his movements, deciding against going down to make saves. That seems to imply that he is still not over his groin injury from a mental standpoint and with Curtis Joseph playing well and Manny Legace also needing action, don't expect to see Hasek play in a game until after Christmas at the earliest. The Wings and Hasek both need to make sure his injury is completely healed as he has already re-aggravated it twice.
Jose Theodore, Montreal Canadiens - Theodore left Thursday's game against the Predators after the first period with a collarbone injury, reports the Montreal Gazette. Initially it was feared to be serious but X-rays taken shortly thereafter revealed that it is only a bruise and Theodore is actually hoping to not miss any additional action.
