if it wasn't so serious, this is almost becoming a joke because i just heard that schwarzenegger decided to enter the gov. race. i think that makes over 300 people who want to become the next governor of california. this whole recall action has become a joke. what makes any one think that he or adriana huffington(sp?) are qualified to run the largest government, besides the fed. gov't., in this country.
between the high taxes,& the illegal immigration problem alone, it's going to be nearly impossible to get this state under control.

i'd like to hear what the madjackers have to say about this situation?

AR, I remember years ago when Larry Flynt ran for President of the US, one of his platforms was 'There aren't enough midgets in prono flicks. This is discrimination to say the least.'
What can one say? Larry is still around, lives in a mansion and has more $ than most of us will ever see. And for Ahnold to announce his candidacy on The Tonight Show just adds to the circus environment. God, (or buddha, Allah, etc.), knows what the Arab world must think. Man we must sure look like The Great Satan in their eyes. Not that I care, just seems awe inspiring to take in the big picture. and if thats not enough...

Gary Coleman on California ballot
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/08/06/...didate.coleman/

EXCERPT:

(CNN) -- Gary Coleman, child star of the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," has placed his name among a host of other celebrities in the running for California governor.

Coleman's candidacy was engineered by the East Bay Express, an Oakland-area newspaper, which paid his $3,500 filing fee, collected the necessary petition signatures and is promoting his candidacy in protest of the scheduled vote aimed at recalling Gov. Gray Davis.

Coleman's campaign treasurer, Steve Buel, editor of the East Bay Express, told CNN that the actor's name "resonates with the voters."

Buel said he had no trouble getting the necessary 65 petition signatures from Independent voters in Alameda County, which he gathered at a recent Oakland A's baseball game.

The Alameda County Registrar of Voters confirmed Wednesday that a representative for Coleman filed the necessary petition signatures and paid the required fee at the courthouse in Oakland, California. He registered as an Independent.

The more I think about it the better I like the idea that Arnold has thrown his hat into the ring.

I watched him last night on Leno's Tonight Show and then during the interview with reporters after. He handled himself well. I liked the part where the politician that are in it to make money and not serve the public have to go. Across America if we did this we would be so much better off. Trouble is money talks and alot of people make money with politicians.

Arnpld has alot of good ideas. He is a intelligent deceision maker who wont take any crap. He says he will kick out all the state reprensentatives and start over. I believe he will do it or try hard to do it. There will be some people looking over their shoulders if he is elected.

Arnold S sees this as his opportunity to get into politics and eventually a presidential run down the line.

California is 38 billion in debt. What can he do to make things any worse. He is capable of turning things around and doing a fine job.

His wife is a Kennedy and politics is in here blood.
She was born to be first lady. At 56 its about time for Arnold to make his mark on America.

He cant be bought out. He has millions. If you can't buy a politician then they find out that they have to do what is best for the state and the people.

California should rally around Arnold and get Davis out !

Gary Coleman dont have a chance. Thats a farce.

gallagher = no chance.

The celebs have 3500 bucks and easy to get 65 signatures, they want a wall plaque saying they ran for gov of Cal. Its a prestige thing I am thinking.

"Concerned about ticket sales for his concert Sunday night, the Sledge-o-matic comic has cut his ticket prices in half (offering a two-for-one deal) and promised to provide twice as much fun.

"I'm doing this because you have to have a good laugh...and because money isn't important any more," he says by phone from his home.

The tide turner? A heart attack June 5. While watching the Lakers play, the cable TV mainstay felt what he thought was heartburn or "a really good pizza with sausage." The following Monday, "I had a slight tingling sensation on the outside of my left arm and I still had the indigestion. I didn't feel good," but he did go to the emergency room. True to form, he didn't want to bother anyone. "I thought I was taking up time that could have been given to people who were really sick."

A quick blood test revealed the problem: a blocked artery. "A cardiologist whisked me away and inserted a mesh spring. I watched them put it in with a wire. It was like opening up your car."

Because doctors weren't sure what caused the problem ("I weigh 160, I'm 5' 8 1/2" and I only have 15 percent body fat" and his cholesterol levels are good), Gallagher has been like a man on a mission, searching to discover what went wrong. "Until I find out what the problem is, I don't know what to have for lunch," he says. "I didn't eat meat or dairy for two months and then I thought, 'This isn't helping my heart repair itself.'" He continued his self-diagnosis, searching the Internet for clues, reacting like a lab rat. "I'm going crazy," he says.

But he's not stopping the comedy.

Gallagher, in fact, has begun sharing the secret of his Sledge-o-matic, letting audience members wield the mallet and spray the food.

"You've gotta go over your head," he insists. "You've gotta hit flat. Strength doesn't do it. You've gotta add speed, right near the end."

Which means, what? That you will get wet if you're sitting in the front rows of the Municipal Auditorium. Gallagher says he hasn't dropped his signature bit, but he has added all new jokes. "I'm in rare form," he says. "After you almost die, you get a new perspective. I don't have to prove anything anymore. I just want to have fun."
...................................

Sounds like a man on a mission.

So Cal
I think Soupy Sales died. The only advantage in having Arnold, Larry, Gary or a stripper would be that they haven't been bought yet. Davis is the biggest play for pay guy in the US. It would take a few years to wear down any non politico, except myabe Coleman. He is totally broke and would be more subject to bribes! Personally, I like Tom McCLintock, the one and only person that has actually said what he would do - he has a plan. But I don't think he has a chance to win. Davis has to go - so I will wait to see who has the best chance of beating him. If Davis was loyal to the Dems, he would resign and Bustamonte would simply inherit the governorship. But he is not likely to do that.

Not a problem gardenweasel. My post was only reflecting upon your statement and the fact that I think you have a point. I know between living from Bakersfield to the High Desert i am very, very close to the San Andeas fault line. Personally I'm hoping to get a little advance warning, i.e., God smites Sodom & Gamorra- think San Francisco- or Berkeley-in that order- before he turns his attention to me.
The next few mos will be interesting to say the least. Probably have Hillary & Bill, Larry the Smut Peddler, G. Coleman and so on in the news one way or another.:jump:
