Vegas was a great time Al

Here's how my weekend transpired:

Got in on Friday late afternoon to the Paris and checked in after getting a rental car (that was a really good idea by my brother)....freshened up (the paris rooms are very nice...worth the extra $$ IMO) and then headed down to check out the scene...walked around for a bit before grabbing a bite at the Paris sportsbook bar while looking at their lines for the night...of course I get all confused with the time change and miss out on a few plays....head to Bally's since its adjoined and end up playing over 3 hours of Texas hold'em....not the poker room version, but the new one that you play only against the dealers hand...did well in the game (doesn't take much skill)...had to leave to pick up my brother from the airport...got him situated in the room and then headed right back to the same table cause the dealer was F-I-N-E....26 year old Korean and she was great to talk to while playing....we played till about 4 AM PST :scared before calling a night...

Saturday:
Had a crepe for breakfast before we picked up the 3rd and final person on our trip...we went straight to GVR cause I had heard how nice the place was and that it was not too far from the strip...My brother and his friend played craps as I watched...we made wagers on the WC consolation game and I made some baseball plays...after hanging for a while we decided to catch the 2nd half of the Germany game at the German beer house 1 street over from the Strip...cant remember its name, but it was something Haus...great time grabbing lunch there and see all the German fans rooting their team on...after that we went back to chill at the Paris pool and check out the local talent...was not much since theirs is on the 3 level and it was the middle of the day...hung out for an hour or so (in the shade) before going upstairs to get ready for the night...we decided on Thai and were recommended on going to the Star of Siam...let me tell you that was some really good food...its our there a ways, but not too far from Sahara and the Stratosphere...had a great dinner and then decided that we would check out Sahara since we were close....ended up learning more about craps that night and finally put a bit of money down on the table and became a 'shooter'...played for a while and then some blackjack before calling it a night at 3 AM PST....

Sunday:
Since we were at the Paris, we definitely wanted to watch the WC final in their sportsbook...we got there 30 minutes early and got great seats...made a few bases wagers while waiting for the game to start....watched the game and the French fans outnumbered the Italians 4:1 in there....great game...after that was over, we did a bit of shopping and lounged in the bar for a bit before heading back to GVR...we had their Sushi buffet and that was phenomenal as well...played some more craps and then we decided to head to freemont st and check out the old casinos....got over there and went ot Binion's, Golden Nugget and Golden Gate and this is where I lost most of my $$.... ....got to watch the Freemont Experience light show and there was a band there that we watched for a few minutes....after this, we headed Back to Paris to gamble for a few hours, but we getting tired of 2 days of constant travelling, so we called it a night around 2 AM PST...

Monday:

We dropped my brother off at the airport in the morning and then headed back to check out the Wynn hotel...nice, but not all that....we then tried to head another off strip casino but got lost and ended up clsoe to fremont st, so decided to hang out there for a little while...a little while turned into the whole day since i went into Binions and played Poker and the table...had a great table of players...most of there for some of the tourneys at the Rio...wild to hear that some of these guys were staying in town for 2-3 weeks to play in the different tournies leading up to the WSOP....really enjoyed myself and to make it even better won a decent amount over the course of playing...heard some great stories from the other players and the dealers concerning Binion' s, gambling in general and in particuler the longest craps game that happened at the California...the person that worked the table was playing and he told us all about the night the Hawaiian guy rolled for over 3 hours and 10 minutes :scared ...left Binions when I had to go return the rental car and catch my red-eye...got back late morning on Tuesday and have finally caught up to EST....but leave in the AM for a conference in Chicago for the weekend :mj07:

all in all Vegas was a great time and glad I was finally able to get back there...looking forward to making another trip next year....
