Two days after helping lead Akron to a 74-57 win over UMBC in their regular season opener, senior forward Demetrius Treadwell has been suspended indefinitely according to the Akron News-Herald.

According to the release a violation of the school?s Student-Athlete Code of Conduct is the reason for the suspension, with it also being noted that the incident in question has been ?referred to the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.?

To say the least this is a big personnel loss for the Zips, who won 21 gamed and finished 12-6 in MAC play last season. Treadwell averaged 15.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest as a junior, and in Akron?s win over UMBC accounted for ten points and 13 rebounds.

With Treadwell sidelined more will be asked of center Pat Forsythe and forward Kwan Cheatham in the paint. Forsythe started alongside Treadwell Friday night, adding six points and one rebound in 14 minutes of action, with Cheatham accounting for nine points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots off the bench.

IE, I can not even begin to tell you what a HUGE loss he is for an otherwise very young team. No team anywhere will experience losing such a vital cog as Tree has been forAkron. If he doesn't get reinstated this season will be a massive failure for the Zips.
