"The discovery of the al Qaeda WMD plot is sure to renew speculation that some of Saddam Hussein's missing weapons of mass destruction were hidden in Syria before the U.S. attacked in March 2003, and have now found their way into al Qaeda's hands."

Good article, Chanman. This is exactly what a lot of people were worried about. That if indeed Saddam did have WMD, that he shuffled them off to countries that have deep ties to Al-Queda, unlike Saddam himself. Obviously that scenario is much more threatening to us.

Then again, there is no proof yet that those WMD were from Iraq. I sure hope they weren't. That would mean that we were directly responsible for WMD getting into the hands of Al-Queda.

Good Point. As you say if true. Maybe they were better off buried.

israeli intelligence has always maintained from the beginning of the war that iraq'a wmd was sent to syria.

i also read that right before the war, a few trucks were spotted entering syria from iraq. i haven't read anything since about accounting of the materials that were in these trucks.

Kosar, tell me your kidding, right. Now that there might be a possibilty that WMD did exist, but were moved, your position now becomes, that because we invaded Irag to get them which was the mission, bush is still wrong becasue they are now in the hands of syria or al quida now and not then.

You are kidding right, remember me, the right winger that was giving you credit for being objective and intelligent.

Sounds like a rationalization for being able to keep bashing and hating bush:shrug:

Ctown,

Nothing has changed in my views. I've maintained since before the invasion that it matters little to me if WMD are/were found in Iraq and that it wouldn't change my opinion about the occupation whether they were found or not.

However, I did make a post or two that if there were any WMD in Iraq, they are much safer and more controlled in Iraq than if they were scattered all over Al-queda land. Would you agree with that? Or not?

This, of course, assumes that the weapons found were from Iraq in the first place. Nothing suggests that in the least at this point. However, if it's later proven that these weapons were from Iraq, then yes, I would feel much safer if they were still in Iraq. Wouldn't you?

Kosar, if they were in irag and assuming they would have stayed there, I would agree with you.

But this is where we definitely are going to disagree, I don't think they would have just stayed in Irag, that was the concern all along. You have to admit that if hussein had the chance he would sell them to the highest bidder or trade them or at the very least use them himself to bolster is defiance of the UN and/or the USA.

IMO there is no way hussein would have kept them for is own use and he was definitely a player in the terrorist war against us and anyone else that crossed him and his kind.
