Just saw that Alabama opened as 17.5 favorite at Missouri. I was guessing it would be in the mid-20s.

Mizzou is 0-3 in SEC with a horrible loss at home to Vandy and lost their starting QB for the next few weeks. Alabama is rested off a bye week. This smells like a trap. It's a CBS game and Alabama has big rivalry game at Tennessee next week. Maybe that's why the line is lower than I thought it would be.

If the line was where I thought it would be I was going to bet Mizzou but all over Bama now. Gonna see what happens over the next few days.

Bama is off a bye and I don't think Saban will let them be uninterested.

MO also has issues with their top receiver who just got busted for the ganja...probably was trying to ease the pain of his decision to pick Missouri over a number of Top Ten programs.

MO couldn't move the ball against a good defense (Vandy) so there is not much hope with a back-up QB against a great defense.

I watched them play GA and that won me money when they were whipped by S Carolina.

I don't think this will be much of a game for very long and I also believe the Alabama offense will be enhanced off the bye and in preparation for the toughest part of their schedule.

MU's backup was 9 of 30... he looked terrible against a decent Vandy defense (kid May is a freaking animal at DE). It's a game where MU could feed off the crowd if they stay close early, but it's unlikely.

That's what they did in the first half versus GA but, you saw what happened when talent and skill took over.

17.5 seems low especially based on the QB status.

Been reading the Missouri newspaper stories from yesterday's loss against Vandy. Sure sounds like a team that is ready to pack it in for the season.

Apparently most of the players ducked out of locker room without talking to reporters and there were reports of arguing amongst the players postgame.

Great article, thanks for posting. Mizzou really does look to be in tank.

Didn't realize that 5 Mizzou players were suspended for last night's game due to a drug bust last Wednesday. 3 players were injured last night (quarterback James Franklin, running back/punt returner Marcus Murphy and center Mitch Morse) and linebacker Will Ebner, who did not dress after suffering a previously unannounced hamstring injury.

They were overpowered by UGA in 2nd half and we saw how the Bulldogs were manhandled yesterday by South Carolina, who took Mizzou behind the woodshed as well a few weeks back. They were fortunate to win at Central Florida and had way too many mistakes against Vandy.

the coaching edge with Saban's advantage over Pinkel accounts for that many points before you even get to looking at talent of the two teams.

Love that type of info from those articles.

I think Mizzou wears down much like the UGA game. Bama in the 2nd half could be a strong play too!

I wouldn't backup your vault... 21.5 points is a lot on the road. However, this is coming from someone who takes 70% dogs. Still, it's 21.5 now and that is a ton on the road, even against Misery. By the way, I hate Misery and live in the state, but they have some talent.

Any word on the suspended players? I'm going to be reading the local press all week long. Doubt I play this now as I should have pounded when the line was first released.

Just saw a tweet that said Mizzou is 0-12 all time against #1 team in the land. 0-4 at home and 0-3 under Pinkel.

Thats an incorrect tweet. Mizzou beat Oklahoma in 2010 when they were the #1 team in the land.

One point of interest for me is that Pinkel and Saban are close friends. Both graduated from Kent State. Saban in '73 and Pinkel in '75. Saban actually vouched for Pinkel to become the Toledo head coach while he was coaching at Cleveland.

Strength of schedule easily goes to Mizzou. I actually think this game stays within number but I've been captain mush this year. Should be a good game to watch, nonetheless.

I'm guessing the tweet was referencing the AP poll. Oklahoma was #1 in the BCS for that game, but in no poll.

Most likely. Good catch.

I didn't realize Franklin was out for this game. That would concern me if backing Mizzou. It also makes me wonder why the line opened as low as it did.
