That should be enough to put the whammy on me.
3-1 yesterday, + 2.0 units. Nothing huge but steady gains is what I'm after. So far so good of late. Totals improve to 112-87/+16.24 units. Out of the short card today I still came up with 3 plays I like.
Cincinatti -160 over Pirates
While I wouldn't call this a gut play it may be hard for some to see the value in this at -160. I'll admit right off for one thing it's a fade on Anderson. I never could stand this guy. Fatboy has poor stuff and brings it to the tune of a very hittable mid 80's fastball. He sucks at holding runners on and last year made a serious run at being the first guy to lose 20 games in a season since 1980. The team he's facing has been hitting lefthanders at about a .300 clip in their last 10 games and trust me this is one poor quality lefthander. While the pitcher opposing him today (Dempster) has been horrible of late as well his situation is different and I feel like you will see him break out of his slump today. This will be Dempster's 3rd start since being traded from the Marlins and his first 2 have been very forgettable. This guy has some get up on his fastball (mid 90's) that keeps the hitters honest and I feel quite strongly he will out perform fatboy and get his first win in a Reds uniform today. Matter of fact I'm betting on it.
Atlanta -160 over Florida
Can't find a reason not to continue to play the Braves. While I won't (nor should I need to) overload anyone with a bunch of stats and trends, the fact is the Braves are playing inspired baseball right now. That will be enough though even Maddux has been better than usual of late. That says a lot for a pitcher of his caliber. In his last 3 he's 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA and a 0.74 WHIP. For a team like Florida who has only been hitting righthanders at a .220 clip in their last 10 games that doesn't bode well for them. Burnett's ERA is well over 7 in his last three appearances and to be against a team that is playing this kind of baseball I have to love the Braves chances here.
Toronto -128 over Baltimore
I'm amazed that more people don't get on Halladay. This guy is the Curt Schilling of the AL. He throws a 4 seam fastball in the mid 90's that has a lot of late movement. He also has at least 3 other pitches he throws at a big league level for strikes. He just beat the Orioles last week giving up 5 hits and one run over 8 complete innings and I won't hesitate to come right back with him. I take this guy every chance I get, had him then and I have him tonight. Blue Jays have won 8 of their last 10 and the Jays are 12-2 in their last 14 meetings with the O's. Baltimore is 0-8 when Johnson starts against Toronto.
Good luck guys and hope to keep the momentum going.
